Cross-flashed UH12NS40 to WH16NS60
I have a UH12NS40 that had been cross-flashed to Asus 3.01. I just crossflashed it to WH16NS60 MK 1.03. I tried ripping a Joker 4k UHD disc (which is the trickiest one I have), topping out at 9.5X with LibreDrive 6.02 and speed setting 0=99. However, halfway through it ran into audio sync issues. At...

Re: different drives, different hardwares?
Just flashed my drive with the 3.11 MK firmware using the modified ASUS flasher. Worked without issues and read my 4K copy of Joker. Thanks that's the hint I needed! Joker just wouldn't open on Asus 3.01, got read errors and then the drive wouldn't be seen by MakeMKV any more until reboot. Flashed ...

Re: Libredrive version v6
On BW-16D1HT, firmware MK 3.10, MakeMKV 1.15.2 and Ubuntu 20.04, I had some trouble with initial open of Joker 4k UHD. I got "unable to open disc" twice, and on the third try it showed "LibreDrive 6.02" and worked. Ejecting and reinserting the disc, LibreDrive 6.02 was shown on f...

Re: Linux How To: Flash ASUS-BW-16D1HT
Thank you! This worked well on Ubuntu 20.04 and MakeMKV 1.15.2. One wrinkle: No SDF file in _private_data.tar, not even after opening a disc. I downloaded it from https://www.makemkv.com/sdf.bin and that worked great. Edit: The instructions also worked for cross-flashing a UH12NS40 (that had been cr...

Re: 1.15 install balked on MakeMKV directory
Could have been explorer. As I say, the directory was empty, or appeared to be so: I did not go hunting for hidden files or desktop.ini copies or anything like that. Even after resolving the "in use" error, installer still complained that the directory wasn't empty. Deleting the directory ...

1.15 install balked on MakeMKV directory
Installing 1.15 over 1.14.7 on Win10, I was prompted for 1.14.7 uninstall, which was successful. After that, 1.15.0 install failed with a note that C:\Program Files (x86)\MakeMKV was not empty. The directory was indeed empty, but could not be removed, as it was "in use by another program"....

Re: Batch / Command Line Conversion of SUP to SRT
Neat! How many of those .srt files do you need to manually correct after? I’ve found that for very small forced subtitles without any “unusual” words, Subtitle Edit is spot on. But throw in some place names or given names and it gets confused. Likewise, it likes to add spaces before punctuation. It’...

Re: AACS 2.1 support
The mkv file format doesn't cover all features anymore that are available on UHD discs today. Especially DolbyVison and HDR. What doesn't mkv cover in HDR? DolbyVision is the only HDR variation that mkv can't handle. Nor does anything else pretty much (mp4 with limitations) and almost no streamer h...

Re: Makemkv 1.14.3 Install Issues (Windows 7 x64)
Makemkv installer doesn't appear to be signed. SmartScreen complained about it. In beta that's fine; for coming out of beta, signing the installer and the program executable seems mandatory to me. I know that comes at a cost.

Re: I need advice.
The i3-8100 was not up to the task of transcoding the video file. I bought an i5-8400 and it barely does the job. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm a little surprised. One, there shouldn't be any transcode when streaming to a 4k HDR output device; two, when streaming to mobile, wouldn't the h...

Re: I need advice.
I was actually able to use the Plex app without issue. I'd expect you would. You're direct streaming, not transcoding. That i3-8100 has a Passmark of 8000, and built-in graphics. I'd expect you to be able to - just - transcode one 4k stream using CPU, should you want to stream to mobile. If your Pl...
