Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
given an makemkv created dv mkv, can one turn it into a valid dv mp4? or is that not possible? Technically, yes. You can demux the video track and then mux the raw stream into an MP4. However, you lose most of your options when it comes to the audio (mp4 does not support most high-end multi-channel...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Open an MKV file that contains two(2) video tracks. The first track is the (re-encoded) DV base layer. The second track is the DV enhanced layer. Then merge the two tracks into a single track that is DV single layer compliant. This is already done in upcoming 1.15.4 , but it was done mostly to plea...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Is it possible to re-encode MKV with Dolby Vision to get a smaller file and still get Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision? Short Answer: Not with MakeMKV Long Answer: Other tools allow you to re-encode the base layer and then merge that resulting file with the extended layer (the Dolby Vision layer). There'...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
Is it possible to re-encode MKV with Dolby Vision to get a smaller file and still get Dolby Atmos + Dolby Vision? As for single-layer implementations of this, there's only 1 software title commercially available that I'm aware of that can do it. However, it's not "free". Do you have a nam...

Re: 1.15.3 License Error
Definitely good info. However, from this info I can deduce that in the many years I've been using this software, I most likely never tried to use it towards the end of the key's life because this is the first time I've ever run into this issue, personally (the issue being, the license key expiring a...

Re: 1.15.3 License Error
Agreed. I don't see what that FAQ snippet has to do with this issue. This is clearly a license key issue, not a system date issue. Although, I can see where this would come into play if there was some sort of urgency behind needing to use the software "right now". I don't know why you guys...

1.15.3 License Error
Hello, I installed 1.15.3 today and it appears the eval expiry is having some sort of issue. This issue prevents use of the application. Below are some screenshots of the error and interface. Am I doing something wrong? Things I have tried: I tried uninstalling and re-installing MakeMKV 1.15.3 I tri...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
I'm curious, is the tool actually embedding the DV color information into the BL stream or is it just adding the metadata to the file so that players will think it's a DV video?

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be working. I have tried it in 2 scenarios (below) with unexpected results. Am I doing something wrong? Scenario 2 is obviously not going to work because the EL was discarded in the original remux process. You're not magically going to get the DV EL back when run...

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be working. I have tried it in 2 scenarios (below) with unexpected results. Am I doing something wrong? It's not ideal - requires 3 programs, 2 intermediate files, lots of storage, and time - but this works consistently https://makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1...

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be working. I have tried it in 2 scenarios (below) with unexpected results. Am I doing something wrong? Scenario 1: MKV with original BL and EL tracks embedded. Supplying an MKV with both of the original BL and EL tracks embedded to MakeMKV 1.15.3 does not return ...
