Re: No Drives Found on v1.14.4 Windows 10
I have a similar issue. What can I do besides allowing an app through controlled folder access? Because it doesn't seem to help How did you actually try this? The brute force approach is to turn off the Ransomware Protection completely and then just try MakeMKV. If this lets it work you then need t...

Re: No Drives Found on v1.14.4 Windows 10
In Windows Security Centre check the section on Ransomware Protection. If Controlled Folder Access is ON this may be blocking MakeMkv. You can allow MakeMKv through this by selecting 'Allow an app through controlled folder access'. Add to this the path for MakeMKV.exe, MakeMKVcon.exe and MakeMKVcon6...

Re: The program can't find any usable optical drives
Glad you managed to get working again.
I wish I could claim credit for this finding but someone else here on the forum first suggested it and it stuck in my mind.

Re: The program can't find any usable optical drives
For me the problem occurred on Win10 after an update from MS which added Ransomware Protection. To make the optical drive's visible again I could either disable the Ransomware Protection completely or just add the Makemkv exe files as an exception. I chose the later option and now Makemkv works agai...

Re: Can't see optical drives /cdrom grayed out
Finally got around to trying this and YES it works. You don't need to turn of the Ransomware Protection completely. You can use the option to allow all the MAKEMKV exe files through controlled folder access. Makes you wonder why MS is blocking this in the first place. Maybe it's the decryption algor...

Re: Can't see optical drives /cdrom grayed out
Going from bad to worse. On my laptop, which is only a 'play' machine, I was having the same problem. It's Win 10 Pro and a couple of new updates got added a coupe of days back. Now the CD/DVD Drive is totally invisible to Windows as well. Before, all other programs could see it but not Makemkv. I'm...

Lucky you.....
Mine is still not working. Have you any details of the last update that Win 10 did?

Re: Can't see optical drives /cdrom grayed out
FYI: I have an old PC which has recently been cleared and Win 10 installed at build 1709. There are no other programs installed other than what comes with Win10. I've just installed Makemkv and it works fine. But another old laptop with Win 10 pro and a few other programs installed does not work, di...

Re: Can't see optical drives /cdrom grayed out
If Win10 is hiding the drive until a disk is inserted, then having one inserted before MakeMKV starts would "fix" it, at least for the first disk. But, I haven't seen anyone report THAT behavior recently. Yes, I'd already tried that and it made no difference to the problem. FWIW: I've jus...

Re: Can't see optical drives /cdrom grayed out
Since I'm having the same problem with this on Win10 both Home and Pro, I'll just add my 2p worth. Up until a few weeks back Makemkv was working just fine, so perhaps something in a Win 10 update has changed how Optical Drives are handled. Even so all other programs I have - DVDShrink, DVDFab, Handb...

Re: The program can't find any usable optical drives
+1 for this. Makemkv working wonderfully until latest round of Win10 updates. Same error on more than one machine - one with Win10 Home, one with Win10 Pro. Running as administrator doesn't make any difference for me. All other DVD ripping programs I have are working fine e.g DVD Shrink. Looks like ...
