in the case of oil/lubricants (non-polar residues) using a cleaner with more hydrophobicity can lead to ripping that water/surfactant didn't, ymmv. I also believe microfiber cloths can aid to van der waals attract the residues better than cotton... again ymmv! I've ripped ~10-15K discs over 20 years ...

Except when it doesn't; then I've found *product placement brand REDACTED* a thing that does.

Polywatch has enabled me to rip many brand new discs I couldn't otherwise. It is very strange to see what looks like a perfectly clean disc have Polywatch remove a visible black residue from the surface.

I believe this issue has not been solved. I too get audio drops at various points in the MKV produced from the UHD disc of The Martian Extended with the Dolby Atmos track. Has anybody been able to get a 2180p /w Atmos MKV of this film (the Extended cut) with no audio drops?
