Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
I've been away from the forum for some months so I did not realize the DV level 2 & MKV issue found a solution. So, yay! The good news: I verified that it works with Plex on my Apple TV 4K with a re-ripped copy of 2001. The OK news: The Infuse app on the Apple TV doesn't recognize it which means...

Re: 2001 A Space Odyssey
The earlier release, at least in the US, is very different from the one released today -- they went back and fixed a spot in the film that was supposed to be a fade rather than a cut. So there's definitely different keys. No wonder about the delay. They knew the collector crowd would have discovere...

My largest are Blade Runner 2049 and Superman The Movie. Both are 83GB+

Re: Incredibles 2 and Dolby Atmos
Oppo tech support also told me that their sound processor is the same one regardless of what is providing the input. So by disc, MKV file on server, USB or whatever, the software is the same. They thought it could be how the MKV creation software is handling seemless branching that could be at fault...

Re: Incredibles 2 and Dolby Atmos
Update: I used MKVToolNix to make an MKV based upon the ripped backup made by MakeMKV (that backup works well with Atmos via SMB). The MKV file from MKVToolNix doesn't work any better than MakeMKV doing the MKV file creation and also suffers from sound dropouts during Atmos-heavy scenes or in some c...

Re: Incredibles 2 and Dolby Atmos
Have you attempted to create the MKV with another MKV app like MKVToolNix by any chance? If so, same result? Obviously, against a fully decrypted copy of the disc, as that MKV app does not decrypt discs like MakeMKV does. This may help further rule out if it's an issue with the MKV container format...

Re: Incredibles 2 and Dolby Atmos
After consulting with Oppo tech support, they think this is something to do with how the MKV file is encoded with Atmos' seemless branching. Any other sound track (or playing the Atmos sound track as LPCM) plays normally. MakeMKV does not "encode". MKV is a container, not directly an enco...

Incredibles 2 and Dolby Atmos
Since I purchased Incredibles 2 and ripped it to an MKV, I've noticed strange audio skips during action heavy scenes during playback on my Oppo 203 disc player. It seems that scenes that are "Atmos heavy" will sometimes have audio dropouts and occasionally the audio will drop and not come ...

Re: UHD support
Thanks to Teddy's firmware instructions and assistance I too have just made my first successful rip. However, although TLJ ripped first time I cannot play it through my 2015 LG OLED TV. It tried to transcode on plex with awful colours and delays, XPLAY says it's not a valid format and even connecti...

Re: Compatible MAC UHD Drives
I'm using the same drive (Asus BW-16D1HT), but from Amazon.com. Mine came with v3.0, works beautifully. I got the same OWC case, but straight from OWC. It's FABULOUS. The front bezel is a little thin and flimsy, but the case itself is pretty legit, USB 3 port, shock mount at 4 points per side, plus...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision
I was playing through the internal Plex app on the TV itself. Unless the TV is scaling down to 1080p, I was getting full frame rate with Dolby Vision at 4K. Unlikely. The TV isn't capable of Dolby Vision content unless it's 24 or 30 fps (2017 and 2018 sets don't have this limitation). As an example...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision
Hello friends, I am also interesting in DV. I have did some research and found some interesting facts. I am closely working with Dolby. 1. DV can be remux with mp4, ts and mkv container. 2. But DV officially using mp4 and ts because of mkv is not the right format for professional use. 3. 4K UHD dis...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision
NP! May I ask what your set up is cause I find DV to be slightly better than HDR10 on my 2017 LG. Still waiting to see what HDR10+ looks like. Supposed to be equivalent to DV. I'll believe it when I see it. My current setup is an LG OLED65B7A being fed video direct from an Oppo 203. Audio is routed...

Re: Any luck with Dolby Vision titles?
I've been ripping UHDs now for the last day and only now realizing that Dolby Vision isn't part of the fun just yet. It is puzzling though from a technical perspective. It's not like DV and MKV can't be a thing together. LG has published a couple of demos showing off DV as a feature of their TVs and...

Re: UHD drives
I ordered a ASUS BW-16D1HT from Newegg and it came today. Manufactured in May 2017, it came with firmware 3.01. I have a mostly Mac household so I used a SATA-USB adapter for a quick check to see if it would work with MakeMKV 1.12.0 on Mac OS X 10.13.4. I just ripped Blade Runner 2049 UHD and with n...
