Multiple playlists

I've used that title as I've discovered it now applies to DVDs too, but they're listed as Angles! Reading on the 'net, Angles doesn't necessarily mean camera angles, but could mean Theatrical cuts, Directors cuts etc. I originally started out ripping my content using AnyDVD to VIDEO_TS and BDMV fold...

Re: MKV thumbnail

On BD, there is a "cover art track" (actually just a picture) available, and that is optionally copied through to the MKV file. I'm not sure that DVDs have that.... haven't looked in a LONG time! I did think that, but I don't select the jpg file when ripping anyway. Is there no tool you c...

Re: MKV thumbnail

I think I've worked out what's going on.

All my blu rips seem to have the the thumbnail, and none of the dvd rips do.

Can you add a thumbnail to dvd rips?

Re: MKV thumbnail

No, nothing installed. As I say, since using the latest version, my MKVs have the thumbnail. Anything before the latest version, doesn't:

MKV thumbnail

Hey,

Since ripping with 1.9.7 I notice the resulting MKV has a thumbnail image when viewing in Windows. Is that a change in 1.9.7?

Can you add one for previous rips?

AnyDVD warning

Hey,

Even when I close AnyDVD (and restart MakeMKV) I still get the warning? I rip to unencrypted ISO from AnyDVD, then rip to MKV from that ISO (because I keep the ISO)/

Is that a bug?

Re: Get current title

Thanks, sorted it.

Was a bit of a faff as there's no argument for mkvinfo.exe to get just the required tag, in my case the title. Had to return the whole lot then extract the line with title in, then format it to get rid of the '| + ' prefix!

Get current title

Hey, I'm writing a batch file that loops through a given directory, updating any MKV files title tag to match the file name, minus the extension. I'm using mkvpropedit to set the title. I'd like to only update files where the title is not currently the same as the file name, so I need to get the cur...

Re: Extracting subtitles

Interestingly if I check the subtitle settings for the full folder rip during playback in MPC-HC, it's set to Forced, as if to suggest it's a separate track. Even more interestingly, the resulting MKV displays the elvish and orc speech, but I ripped it to MKV with no subs selected. As if to suggest ...

Re: Extracting subtitles

Just doing the Hobbit trilogy, Blu-ray. If I use Clown_BD to just extract the subtitles, with the 'Force Subtitles' box set to 'Greyed Out' so it gets only forced captions, then rip to a .sup file, the open the .sup file in DVDSubExtractor, it doesn't find any forced subs. I recently watched the act...

Re: Extracting subtitles

Use DVDSubextractor which also OCRs from BD subs (PGS) and is currently the best tool around considering character recognition and usability. Thank you, thank you, thank you! This seems to be picking out the forced only subs, even for my Two Towers 'problem', linked to above. One thing though, is i...

Re: Extracting subtitles

I find it is easiest to simply rip everything, and view the result in VLC to see which track is "forced". Then that is what I use as the primary track when I run the file through Handbrake to compress the video better. I read that a lot. But I've actually (I think) found where this doesn'...

Re: Embed forced subtitles

Any HTPC with MPC-HC can do it already. I'm glad someone mentioned this. This is what I'm experiencing: -> Play a full folder rip (VIDEO_TS, LotR - The Two Towers Disc 2 DVD for example) in VLC and you get no 'forced' subs. Turn on subs and you get the whole sub track, even for English language dia...

Extracting subtitles

Hey, I'm using SubRip to extract "forced" subtitles from DVD rips (VIDEO_TS folder rips, not MKVs etc.) to srt files. By forced, I mean foreign language bits, like Elvish in LotR. This seems to be going well, but is there a Blu-ray version of SubRip as it only allows vobs, ifos etc. to be ...

Re: Lincoln

Thinking about it, it could be that MPC-HC chooses the first playlist and VLC chooses the last one (because that's how it's turned out).
