Re: Fatal error
I've been getting crashes at the start of writing with a few DVDs again, running the current version on 10.6.2. Sample crash log and debug log pasted below. Process: makemkvcon [612] Path: /Applications/MakeMKV.app/Contents/MacOS/makemkvcon Identifier: makemkvcon Version: ??? (???) Code Type: X86 (N...

Re: DVD->mkv, file playback on Mac
As the title says, this is DVD not BluRay.

In case anyone else finds this post later...
Current builds of Plex, Boxee and XBMC do not work with quite a lot of files made by MakeMKV. I found this out the hard way, there are bad a/v sync problems with a lot of my rips. Now I need to find a way to remux to TS on OS X....

Re: Audio matching video
Hi, I am having problems with certain MKVs in Plex as well. The same files play fine with MPlayer OS X Extended on the same hardware, and my WD TV media player, so it's debatable that this is a MakeMKV issue. More likely some Plex problem. Here is my thread on the Plex forum, maybe you can add some ...

Re: Aspect Ratio Bizareness
Guys, This is nothing to do with MakeMKV, it does not touch the video. You can thank the original DVD for this behavior, they used letterboxing instead of anamorphic widescreen. Hence, you see a 4:3 video, with black bars at the top and bottom already embedded in the video, and the black bars on the...

Re: File playing problem with VLC and MPC
Hi Fahim, I use OS X and I gave up on VLC for playing my MKV files (ripped from DVD), same problem you experienced. I found that MPlayer works well (on Mac anyway, using MPlayer OS X Extended) as long as you set the screenshot location to "Disabled" - something to do with the way filters a...

Re: Trying very hard to wrap my brain around MKV
Hi, I use MakeMKV to rip DVDs for playback on my WD TV player, too. I'll try to address your questions. MKV is indeed a container. When you rip a DVD the video inside is MPEG-2. First, when you get multiple files as output, it's due to your settings during the rip. After the disc is scanned, you can...

Re: DVD->mkv, file playback on Mac
Thanks for the replies. To me, it seems a bit crazy to contend with a huge media center package just to watch the occasional DVD rip on a notebook... In the meantime, I found a better workaround for MPlayer OS X Extended. Instead of activating a new filter (deinterlacing, as explained above), you ca...

DVD->mkv, file playback on Mac
Hi, Just though I would post my findings here, in case anyone else is searching for the solution, or has more info to add. I use MakeMKV to rip my DVDs for the WDTV media player. But I also like to check the files after the rip (and verify episode numbers for TV DVDs), and occasionally watch a few m...

Re: Fatal error
Thanks for the reply. I loaned out that disc, so I can't try again until I get it back. In the meantime, I updated to OS X 10.6.1 and MakeMKV 1.4.7. No problems so far, thanks!

Fatal error
Hi, Thanks for the excellent program. I am having trouble with certain DVDs with the OS X version of MakeMKV 1.46 on a MacbookPro4,1. The same disc will rip fine in the Windows version 1.46 under Vista. Here is a crash log from yesterday, trying to rip Revolutionary Road DVD. The disc is scanned OK,...
