Re: What Drive should i buy 4k hdr ripping
Well... At this time none of us have much of a choice. It sounds like you are already familiar with the UHD Friendly list, so it's up to you at this point. From my experience the more popular ones are the LG WH16NS40 and the one you mention. But at this point be prepared to have to downgrade the fir...

Re: MakeMKV to Handbrake for 4K (UHD)???
That is correct. The primary purpose for many—if not most—MakeMKV users is to put the content into a container such as MKV untouched. Meaning, we may remove some of the content from the orignal source like un-needed subs, audio tracks, extras, etc, but leave what we do want uncompressed/untouched. M...

Yes. As Mike states in that same post where you download the file from:
"just download the relevant text file and put it into MakeMKV data directory."
There is no mention at all of renaming the file. Do as Mike instructs and you will be ok.

Re: UHD drives
That is entirely up to Mike. Because DeUHD currently supports some official UHD drives does not mean MakeMKV (or other similar apps for that matter) will also support them. Different apps, different development, different developers, and their aproach may vary even though they are all aiming towards...

Re: UHD drives
I thought the 3.02 FW worked though? I'm having the same issue of January 2018 manufacture date 3.02 FW but no discs or reading. Might just be bad luck with discs having different keys. Anyone know if there is truly no hope for my drive? See this thread. http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?...

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.02 - no disc inserted
Read the posts in this thread. http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=16885&p=61811&hilit=No+disc#p61811 Specifically those towards the bottom of that page the link takes you to. There are various reports of the “newer” out of the box 3.02 firmware not working with UHD disks.

Re: Create a method to donate to MakeMKV
Currently no way to donate. The way people have been "donating" is by buying more licenses. Since it's monies that go to Mike regardless. I have seen people by 3-5 licenses just to plainly help out Mike and show him support. Although, I would also support a donation option, it has been dis...

Re: UHD drives
Sorry, but I have not used any enclosures for optical drives in many years. I now solely use PC towers for such tasks and buy/install internal drives without the need of enclosures. Looking around in Amazon UK for reviews or Googling optical drive enclosure reviews may be your best bet. Maybe some e...

Re: UHD drives
It seems the Amazon one ships with 1.02. Amazon answer: "It would seem to be 1.02 as it identifies itself as HL-DT-REBE16NU50 1.02. This is the version I hoped for BUT it does not 'recognise' UHD discs as being present if inserted. I hope that this answers your question." You may have bet...

Re: UHD drives
The very short version: They are not subject to AACS 2.0 cert revocation. Mike literally states this in the first post of this thread. The UHD Friendly drives use AACS 1.0. UHD disks use AACS 2.0. The loophole allows for the mismatch. For the long version: There are detailed technical articles that ...

Re: UHD drives
Hi, new to the forums but not makemkv. I've started to build up a collection of 4K discs that I'd like to rip and store on my NAS. I'm using a Mac Mini so I'll be needing an external USB drive. What can I buy currently that will work out of the box? Thanks in advance :) There are a select few drive...

Re: UHD The Last Jedi failing at 27Gigs
Ok, I'm trying to go the backup route now but I am getting errors as it copies. If it works I will let you all know. If anyone has any ideas other than this please advise. This is the route that may be successful for you. There have been a few reports of MakeMKV users who have had problems/errors s...

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
You could try downgrading to a different version of the firmware to see if it resolves the issue. https://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17058 Some people have reported that it has resolved read issues when downgrading as well as upgrading. Depending the the issue they have encounte...
