Any good news? I plan to buy 4K Blurays and backup them but is hesitated to so...

I don't think its a hardware problem but more than a new protection that makemkv didn't read.

I suggest to backup the Bluray to MKV so as to play everywhere with every media player.
For a program that plays Bluray discs, I use the free one Leawo Bluray Player.
