Found my way to this thread after having the same exact issue. Is the answer really to split each episode with MKVToolNix? The worst part is the blank sections are not just at the start and end of each episode, but also in the middle, and with no chapter markers...

Bumping this because my ordeal with trying to rip the Death Note UK boxset has lead me here. No chapters, lots of junk video at the start, end, and in the middle of the stream, so an absolute nightmare to try and split by timecodes 37 times. Is this something that has somehow been addressed by MakeM...
