Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

Yeah well thats the question. What happens to a 66gb+ movie that gets cut into a smaller 50gb version? Is the quality still the same with DV? I doubt it. No he's talking about remuxing, I think. I've used DVDFab 10 to remux Pacific Rim 2 while keeping full DV. It works and it's currently the only a...

Re: Unable to convert "The Other Guys"

Since this is the funniest movie to have come out in this millennia, which is sad cause it's from 8 years ago, I grabbed a copy from Amazon and full disc backup worked fine and unrated MKV rip went fine using MakeMKV v1.12.3 linux(x64-release). The only thing that came up during the MKV rip was this...

A lot of us don't covert them.

Re: Feature Request: Do what you do without Java

For the overwhelming amount of security issues in general I, and most others who have been doing this stuff for a while would recommend getting to know VirtualBox and virtual machines. It will/can save u from a lot of headaches. Nothing is ever 100% but VM's are a solid choice.

Re: Oppo winds down it's Blu-Ray player and audio business

Well that's a pickle. After years of not buying there players I finally buy one and they call it quits. They say they will support this and that but, how many times in the A/V tech world have we seen this happen now? A bunch of times and they say the same thing and then vanish. Not sure why they nev...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

Hi, just received an information from my source that cyberlink is trying to access Dolby vision playback licence but Dolby is not ready yet because of high rate of piracy in pc segment and lack of HDCP 2.2 and 10-bit HEVC. Only Intel 7th gen and above have 10 -bit hevc. Some other information also ...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

Yeah...my 'theory' is that the HTPC crowd will get software DV decoding before everybody else. I haven't used an HTPC since 2002 and that was just two RCA cables running from a Dell playing DivX/XviD files, so I and a lot of others will have to wait for the Android solution. Madshi's THE man! Eac3to...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

Hello friends, I am also interesting in DV. I have did some research and found some interesting facts. I am closely working with Dolby. 1. DV can be remux with mp4, ts and mkv container. 2. But DV officially using mp4 and ts because of mkv is not the right format for professional use. 3. 4K UHD dis...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

Have you got a good link to a guide or what not on this process? I've pretty much always just ripped out the main Audio/video/subtitles as single MKV (which has been bulletproof). It's easily recognized by emby (which transcodes the file as needed for playback on certain devices) and allows me to d...

Re: WANTED: Results of UHD Rips with Dolby Vision

So far I only tried Transformers (using full backup option in MakeMKV then using BDMV Modifier) and it played back with full menus and DV on my Oppo 203. As stated before there are no software players other then maybe PowerDVD that can handle dual layer DV. Only single layer. Won't work in MKV eithe...

Re: A few questions on audio settings and playback programs

Congrats on the new baby! You should be able to leave all your rips as is. Go into the Kodi settings (I use SPMC) and make sure audio output is set to stereo. Assuming your only using stereo computer speakers. That should do it. No need for Handbrake here.
