Re: Why do some Blu-Ray 4K UHD Discs have more than one video file?

The only difference I've spotted is the 8001 file has the forced themed yellow subtitles during conversations amongst the Na'vi in their native language and oddly has a slightly smaller file size. That's normal. Because different clips are used in the playlists, the sizes will be slightly different.

Re: Problem with Razorback AU UHD?

Yeah, SamuriHL pretty much nailed it. I will say that the researchers who poked at PowerDVD did write an academic paper on the exercise, and on AACS 2.x in general. I'd imagine a direct link is fine but I'll leave the research as an exercise. :) In any event, if you have any technical prowess, feel ...

Re: Intel drops Windows SGX

Yeah, you don't need SGX for MakeMKV. There's an ARM64 build for macOS, and ARM64 definitely doesn't have SGX or anything like it. :) Reboot and try again. That should work.

Re: How to delete HDR metadata and keep Dolby Vision only ?

I don't believe this is possible. DV builds on top of the HDR data, at least on UHDs. (That's my understanding, anyway.) If you toss the HDR data, the picture's going to look strange.

Re: BD50 UHDs on non-UHD-friendly drives

Thanks, everyone. I have no idea if the discs I have are actually BD50 UHDs! I just suspect it, given the bitrates. Or, to be more precise, I suspect what's happening is these labels tested their discs on burned BD50s and then just shot them over to the pressing plant, which probably used BD66 discs...

BD50 UHDs on non-UHD-friendly drives

Hi. This may be slightly off-topic, although I think it's interesting and somewhat relevant. :) I know there are three UHD BD profiles: BD50, BD66, and BD100. Can anybody confirm that a BD50 disc can be read on a plain BR drive? I have a disc that I highly suspect is BD50. Alas, when I place it in a...

Re: Time required to add discs

Thanks. I've submitted a few discs in the past. I don't recall it ever taking longer than 24 hours. I do know that Mike's not alone in taking a bit longer than I recall. I guess that, as more & more labels put out UHDs, everybody's running a bit behind.

Time required to add discs

Hi. I'm curious if anybody knows approximately how long it takes these days to get discs added. I sent a dump to the SVQ address three days ago. I'm still waiting for the disc to be added. When I did that last year, it look less than a day. Is three days normal now?

Thanks.

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1

I seem to recall reading somewhere that it is possible for frames to get dropped when muxing to MKV. Has to do with timing, as I recall. (Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.) So, strictly speaking, TS is ideal, if bloated. This is also not a problem that a vast majority of people will ever noti...

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support

I know a couple of people at authoring houses. I'll see if some clips I can shoot (SDR and HDR) can get converted to DV using official equipment. Of course, I'd consider all this to be copyright-free (copyleft, IIRC?). :)

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

I doubt MakeMKV will support conversion to other DV profiles. The policy has always been to just copy the data over into a new container, not to translate the data into other forms beyond what's absolutely necessary to get the data into MKV form. A more likely approach, IMO, would be for players to ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1

Hello beautiful people! Just a small update: I revised my code (Exoplayer) after the release of version 1.15.2. @shawnc22 has just tested (on the new Shield) an apk that i have prepared. The mkv test file is played correctly and Dolby Vision is successfully triggered. In the next few days I will re...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

Weird question i guess but, anyone know of a player for androidtv/shield that can either playback 23.976p movies @ 24p, speed them up. Or if you know of an application that could speedup the video and audio without stripping the DV data? AFAIK, all you have to do is run everything through MKVToolni...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

On a related note, it looks like Nvidia 2019 Shield Pros are finally getting restocked. Just ordered one from B&H, and it looks like Newegg and Amazon have them too. Hurry if you want one too!
