Re: Demuxing PGS Subtitles

As of August 2009 Mike_Admin has stated there is no known way to demux the PGS subtitles from an MKV container. He said they may release a command line tool to do so at some point in the future, but who knows.

Can't demux PGS subtitle stream from MKV container?

Mike- I have been trying unsuccessfully to demux the PGS stream from the MKV container created by MakeMKV for conversion in SupRip. I used mkvextract, TsMuxer and TsRemux. None of these worked. Researching the internet including pouring through Doom9 hasn't given me an real good information. The con...

Re: VLC player/Media Player not playing correctly

Bearcat, keep in mind MKV is a *container* file. It can hold many different kinds of audio and video types. The video codec for commercial blu-rays is usually either H.264 or VC-1 (occasionally MPEG for older ones). So MakeMKV puts the H264 or VC-1 encoded video into the MKV container file. VideoLAN...

Re: Future Version Suggestions...

I'd definitely vote for number 1. Don't auto-populate every checkbox. Or perhaps allow a right mouse click option that removes all check marks if you do continue to auto-populate. Anyways, great program and thank you for making it available! :D

Re: MakeMKV Setting to use with WD HDTV?

As Jahdoh said, make sure you have the latest firmware. Try unplugging the WDTV player as the power button doesn't truly turn it off and then turn it back on. Using MakeMKV with the WDTV player for the most part should just be load, click button, and go. I've used it to watch quite a few blu-rays ju...

Re: How much CPU do you need?

Decoding high bit rate h264/VC-1 content does actually use a lot of CPU horsepower. What you download is usually probably around 5-10Mbps, while true blu-ray content is around 20-40Mbps. On windows 7 64-bit I rip my blu-rays using MakeMKV. I installed the Haali media splitter and Media Player Classi...

Re: No subtitle on Blueray Rips

kotze999- The subtitles from blu-ray don't work on the WDTV because they are in the PGS (Presentation Graphic Stream) format. There is no hardware appliance or open source software player that will natively play this format. They have to be converted. I know as I also have the WDTV player. Mike- I h...
