Re: Issues with Kill Bill Vol 1 & 2 Blurays
Noticed this issue when trying to rip Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 Bluray using MakeMKV on Mac OS. None of the audio problems but the color seems off in the scenes. There also seems to be a lot of discoloration with lots of green flashes and red flashes. Anyone else see the same issues? I've ripped the mov...

Re: Fatal error
Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm attaching the error log I get from the American Gangster Bluray. I tried this with two different discs and still getting the fatal errors.

Re: Fatal error
I've actually started noticing a few more Fatal Errors than usual when running 1.4.9 beta. Not sure if that's related to anything or not. I've also been getting the message that I should upgrade my disk because the program is writing faster than my disk can handle. Any one else have the same message...

Re: Full screen instead of letter box
Hey Nomad, I get your explanation but it doesn't really explain why after ripping the same bluray disc two times, the artifacts pop up in different places. I might not fully understand how the software works but something happened during the ripping process that caused the artifacts to occur. If it ...

Re: Full screen instead of letter box
My machine's pretty beefy so I'd be surprised if it was caused by that. Hey Mike, are you going to incorporate any of the new OpenCL features of Snow Leopard to boost the processing power of the software?

Full screen instead of letter box
Just did another rip of Sin City (Bluray). I've noticed that certain movies when converted using the MakeMKV software won't have the black letter box rows. Since I don't have a Bluray player and Mac OS can't playback Bluray discs I don't know if these movies ever had the letter box rows or not. Here...

Re: Snow Leopard?
Works fine for me. Just did my first rip post Snow Leopard with no issues. I'm interested to see if the Plex guys will update the software to now take advantage of the NVidia GPUs which Snow Leopard now gives them access to. If so, playback should be amazing. Maybe it will solve my stuttering proble...

Re: Stuttering Problem, please help!
So I just did the rip for Watchmen and didn't have any issues. The movie ripped just fine with no stuttering and even had the black letter box rows. I did notice that in the MakeMKV menu where you choose which files to rip, when you uncollapse the main movie file, it says "Video Vc-1" (See...

Re: Advice for Macbook Pro owner.
I'm only using this in OSX and have had no problems so far. I've ripped a ton of Bluray movies using this drive with virtually no issue. Only issues seem to be non-hardware related, more software which I'm sure will be remedied when OSX fully supports Bluray.

Re: Advice for Macbook Pro owner.
Hey Simon, I use an OEM Panasonic USB Bluray drive with my Mac Mini. Here's the listing for it on eBay. There are two versions, one that reads only and one that also writes. I got the read-only one but I'm sure the one that writes should work, too. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-UJ-120-Blu-Ray-BD-player-CD...

Re: Cutting down on artifacts
This is for Iron Man and 300. The reason I think it's in the ripping/encoding process is that I've reripped/re-encoded the files 4 or 5 times and the artifacts pop up in different spots every time. To clarify, I'll rip Iron Man and then have an artifact show up at a certain point in the movie. I rep...

Re: Cutting down on artifacts
This is for Bluray discs (I have no issues with DVD rips). Testing out the other items you mentioned might be an issue because I don't have a Bluray player. I have a Bluray drive connected to my Mac Mini. Unfortunately, Mac OS does not support Bluray playback at the moment (maybe iTunes 9?) and I'm ...

Re: Subtitles failure
That's correct. Plex and VLC cannot play PGS subtitles. These are the subtitles you rip using the MakeMKV software. Check out this thread on another forum:

Cutting down on artifacts
Any tips on how to reduce artifacts? Not many pop up (maybe 2-5 per movie) but as a perfectionist, you always want to find ways to eliminate these. I've bumped up the read buffer size to the max 2048 (running 4GB of RAM so it seems ok). What about the Read Retry Count? Any other ideas?

Re: Subtitles failure
Plex and VLC can handle the PGS subtitles in Bluray movies. Maybe in the future these apps will support it. I've ripped my movies to include the subtitles in the hopes that future releases of Plex will support this.
