Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
Quick update in case this helps anyone else with a WP50NB40 NB52 drive: I successfully flashed mine using the BP firmware path instead of the WP firmware path. Process was: Flash to: DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin Then crossflash to: DE_LG_BU40N_1.00.bin Everything completed successfully with no i...

Re: What are the reasonable prices?
Some actual UHD drive firmware can read UHD discs as is. The best example of this is BU40N 1.00 and is the firmware version I always install on them. The BU40N FR07 firmware from before 2020 can also read UHD discs.Bowi_QC wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2026 8:01 pmOK. Thanks. I saw between CA$90 and CA$180 or something... Seems I got a great price, especially since both came with the cabling and one of the BU40N was already compatible.
"Firmware type: Original (unpatched); Firmware version: 0.FR07j"
Firmware Date said "2116-12-20 16:51".
What does "Original (unpatched)" mean? I thought "original" meant that it wouldn't read UHD, yet it does.
Can anyone educate me? 😅

Re: Dump submitted- Bridesmaids UHD
MKB20_v82_Bridesmaids_12DC Do you mean you emailed the dump to svq@makemkv.com for processing so a HK can be added to MakeMKV's database?? If not, please do so. The public KeyDB already has a record for this disc. It wasn't working for me earlier Monday afternoon (US Central TZ) after I had downloa...

Re: Flashing a LG BP55EB40 V1.03 SVC EB52 Blu-Ray drive
Thank you for the reply. However, It not taking the last step where I write the DE_LG_BU40N_1.00 firmware. Here is the steps I took. I flashed the DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB50_1.03_MK.bin firmware. It was successful. Then I recovered the drive by selecting the drive with the new firmware (DE_LG_BP50NB40-NB5...

Re: 43888 Not Reading 4k Discs
Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve had verbatim drive for quite a while now and I’ve gone through two drives and with both drives, I was able to flash them both to 1.03. But it won’t read any 4K disc that I have. I’ve tested at least 10 to 12 different discs on both drives and the sam...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026
I've been reading through the flashing threads and guides for the WP50NB40, but I'm still unclear on the exact recommended path because there seem to be conflicting instructions across different posts. My LG WP50NB40 should be arriving today. I don't yet know if it's an NB50 or NB52 revision. I alr...

Hello, I just joined the forum because I want to flash my LG BP55EB40 V1.03 SVC EB52 slim external Blu-Ray drive with the right LibreDrive firmware. It was manufactured 12/10/2024. I've searched the forum and found information for this here: https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=...

Thanks for the response—I appreciate the straightforward guidance. I followed your steps exactly to rule out any initialization or software timing issues: 1. Fully powered down the system (tested both internal SATA and external enclosure) for ~15 minutes 2. Booted back up and inserted a disc before...

Re: Counterfeit LG WH16NS40 ?
I purchased a 5.25 LG WH16NS40 and couldn't tell the manufacture date from the listing, although otherwise it seemed fine. I was just getting started down this rabbit hole so didn't consider everything. Well now that I have it, the sticker states it's from January 2026 (already suspicious), yet Mak...

Re: WH16NS40 NS50 soft-bricked after wrong firmware – no disc detection – need recovery guidance / possible full dump
Hi all, I wanted to follow up on my original post with an update and ask for further guidance. After following earlier advice, I was able to successfully recover the drive using the LG official flasher and restore it to a working state. It functioned normally for about a week and was able to read a...

Re: Brand new BU40N shipped from China good or bad idea?
Hi All, I am looking at various drives for UHD ripping and these CN based sellers offer great prices on ebay but I wonder what is the experience? Are they selling genuine drives etc.? Another one - since it is a slim internal SATA drive - would it work work with SATA to USB kit left over from HDD s...
