I hope it's OK that I continue on this tread I have a BP55EB40 drive too (It's a HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP55EB40 to be exact) with 'SVC Code EB52' on the box I've flashed it with the firmware for this drive. All OK. I can rip Blu-rays with no issues. But when I try to load a 4K disc it spins for a minute a...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

You must have been extremely lucky and got an old unit from wherever you bought it. They stopped putting Pioneer drives in the 43888 early 2025!! You do not need to do anything as it is already UHD compatible out of the box. Just insert a UHD disc and start ripping!! EDIT: Never mind! I searched ar...

Uninstall it and install an older version.

1.18.3 on Mac
Ah, you mean you updated your MakeMKV software version? If so, just go back to the older verion.

There is nothing wrong with your drive and you should not flash it again.

What is a safe upper limit for the pressing date of a blu-ray disc to insert into an old optical drive without causing a revocation if the latest version of MakeMKV is used?
2023.

I'm getting this error message "Command produced error Code 0x82052603"
I'm using SDFlasher (V1.3.6) and I tried ASUS_ODD_FW_Changer
Your drive has encrypted firmware. Flash to WH16NS60 1.02-MK first, then to WH16NS60 1.00.

Yes, of course but since they are 15+ years old, not sure for how much longer.

Re: No usable optical drives

Hey thanks for the response, it's a MacBook Pro. Coopervid did the UHD flash for me over a month ago. Everything has been fine until I did the firmware update this morning, so I didn't know if that may have disrupted something. Can I unflash and reflash? What firmware update did you do this morning?

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2026

I too am sort of confused with my drive, and do not wish to mess this up. I purchased a Verbatim 43888 and did all the research I could on here before starting and thought I was ready to flash until MakeMKV tells me I got a Pioneer UD04 drive, not the LG BU40N I was expecting and folks are saying c...

Why is everyone paying for this firmware flasher? PM me and I can give it to you for free.
Because the author of said tool asked that it not be shared.
