Re: WH16NS60 No Disc Error

Ever since getting the OWC enclosure, all of my issues have disappeared for my WH16NS60 drive. I'd like to note that I'm on firmware V1.00. If you're using an enclosure, I'd give that one a try just to see what happens. And thanks to coopervid, I am now a happy (so far) owner of a Pioneer drive. I'l...

Re: Destruction pictures of my Verbatim 43888 (Pioneer UD04)

There very well may be a firmware chip inside the drive itself. And I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but this right here is definitely a sop8 spi flash chip. There's some type of firmware on that little PCB. These slimline models may not have enough space inside the drive itself to include th...

Unfortunately it's not clear enough to see the part number. It looks like GD (GigaDevice) which does make SPI NOR Flash memory chips. Oh well..

Re: WH16NS60 Stops responding mid rip.

if you can open the drive casing, then i would suggest you can try to clean the laser heads with a QTip dipped in alcohol. it might just be an issue with the laser heads. even though its a brand new set, sometimes a thin layer of gunk could have accumulated on it while sealed up in the box while in...

Re: WH16NS60 Stops responding mid rip.

So I'm back. I ended up finding the post that says 1.02MK like you said is recommended and not 1.03 like I originally thought. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=19634 If I understand it correctly, if I want to use it with a different ripping software I would need 1.02MK? As fo...

Re: Destruction pictures of my Verbatim 43888 (Pioneer UD04)

I thought these were supposed to be good reliable drives? How long have you had it? I'm still kind of betting the little board is bad. I noticed there is a firmware chip on there. Without it, your computer may not know what to do with it. Are you able to get a part number on that square IC with the ...

Re: WH16NS60 Stops responding mid rip.

Hey MartyMcNuts, Thanks for the reply. So there are no known issues with the v1.00 firmware even though v1.03 is recommended? I did read about the invisible film on the discs and did clean it and still have issues. I had a couple times when Windows actually told me it was an unrecognized device. Ou...

Re: WH16NS60 No Disc Error

It looks like Amazon Germany and UK are sold out of that model. I have been seeing people on Amazon suggest this one. 43890 External Slimline What do you think about that one? Amazon Germany. Look under product details: 43888. But beware. In some countries they use now the LG BU40N. Check immediate...

Re: WH16NS60 No Disc Error

I seem to also have this issue - it was centered around 4K TV Show disks at first. Most of the time it works; however, lately, more and more 4K disks read, place the title selection screen, then in about 10 seconds I receive "No Disk Error" This seems to happen from the last 2 updates, pr...

WH16NS60 Stops responding mid rip.

Hi All! I recently purchased a LG WH16NS40 that says it was flashed to WH16NS60 Firmware v1.00 Official UHD Unlocked and only rips UHD at 4x MAX. It says in the listing that the sleep bug was fixed, but reading on the forum 1.03 is the best version and fixes this bug and faster ripping speed? I have...
