Re: Recreating 3D disc from makemkv backup
I'd like to give BD_RB a try, but it looks to have a bit of a learning curve. The notes say it's faster working from the hard drive, so my question is, if I use MakeMKV to back up my 3D Blu-ray Disc to the hard drive, can BD_RB put it onto a blank BD disc provided it has enough space? Trying to figu...

3D Blu-ray backup to disc not working
I wanted to see if I could make physical backups of 3D Blu-ray discs, so I did a backup with MakeMKV and then burned a Blu-ray disc. It mounts just fine on my computer and MakeMKV can open it, but when I put the disc in my Sony 3D Blu-ray player on my home theater system, it won't play the main titl...

Re: Drive stopped reading Blu-Rays
This happened to me a few weeks ago. The solution was to shut my computer down, unplug the AC for 10 seconds, then restart. A restart alone was not enough. I suspect my Asus drive had an issue that required a complete power-off. May not work for you, but if you haven't tried it it's worth a shot.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT troubles
So, I shut the computer down and unplugged it for about 2 minutes and that seems to have fixed the problem. Weird.

Asus BW-16D1HT troubles
I've had this drive for a couple of years now and it's been working flawlessly on my hackintosh. However, today MakeMKV failed to open two different Blu-ray Discs (not UHD, just regular BD) with several SCSI errors. Both discs open just fine with MakeMKV on another hackintosh in my home. Any suggest...

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
Yes, the MVC track was ripped; however, the resulting file does not play properly on my Epson. I'm using a Mac so that software isn't an option for me. I don't understand the mechanics of this process. Does the video software need to "pass-through" the video to the projector for decoding, ...

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
I'm still stuck. I ripped the 3D movie and it should still be frame packed, right? It's the Mpeg4-MVC-3D file from the disc. My Epson 3700 is supposed to have native frame pack decoding but the only options I see are TB and LR. Glasses are synced to the projector fine. However, the video clearly has...

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
If you have a projector that understands frame-packing, I'd stick with that instead of performing a conversion. Yes, my Epson 3700 has native 1080p frame-packing built in. The question I have, though, is do I need special software for my Mac to send the file to the projector to get 3d? Ideally, I'd...

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
I convert the 3D MKV file to SBS (side by side), if you go this route you can use any standard playback software if your projector or TV has SBS - most do. Does it matter if it's left-right or right-left encoding? This is for an Epson 3700 projector. The manual says: Frame Packing Side by Side Top ...

Re: UHD playback on new VLC 3.0
VLC3 still stutters on my MacBook Pro dual core i7 (2017 model). On the other hand, IINA (Mac only) plays 4k MKV rips with no trouble at all. It has hardware decoding of HEVC. It is now my go-to app for playback.

What glasses do you use for SBS playback? How's the quality of the image?

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
Thanks for the reply. I am encouraged by it! I have an Epson 3700 projector which will do 1080p SBS. So, I should rip a 3D movie (I don't have any yet) with MakeMKV, then use BD3D2MK3D.7z (I have a Windows 7 VM on my Mac) to convert it to SBS, then it can play back in Plex? Or do I need VLC or MPV? ...

Re: How To Rip a 3d bluray?
Bringing this thread back to life... So, the steps are: 1. Use MakeMKV to rip the 3D video as described in post 2 2. Use software that can display 3D file 3. Have a TV or projector that is 3D capable Is this correct? If so, do you know of software that can be used for 3D for shutter glasses on a Mac?
