I have a fanless media PC with a Streacom case and a Streacom slot-loading BD, which can't load UHD disks. So I bought the drive you refer to from asmcom. Simple, just plug one cable into a USB3 socket and the other into a USB2 (though I expect this cable is only for power so a USB3 would do as well...

I also bought one of these drives. It arrived yesterday, earlier than expected and worked immediately on the (only two!) 4K disks that I own. It didn't work on a rented disc but that's only because there is not yet a volume key available, I expect this will be available in the not too distant future...

This is a rental copy, not retail. During scanning I see a lot of debug messages plus others like "Complex multiplex encountered". On completion there are six or so titles all of roughly the same size but with varying numbers of chapters.
