I just tried ripping the blu ray DVDs again after cleaning them for a third time.
This time, it worked. Very strange. Sorry about the false alarm.

Doesn't matter which software.
When I rip a blu ray DVD, the larger MKV files (for the movies) cannot be read.
The MKV files for behind the scenes, trailers, etc., work fine.
When I rip a regular DVD, the resulting MKV files are fine.
The only thing that changes is the blu ray DVD.

Unreadable MKV files
I tried converting two different blu ray disks. Both disks produced MKV files for the movies that were unreadable. MKV files for the smaller files on the disk (i.e. trailers) were ripped with no problem. I do not have this problem when ripping regular DVDs. Also, there were no error messages display...
