Re: LG BU40N enclosure
Just received 2 more SilverStone TS14's, from 2 different locations, none from China, and neither work properly with the LG BU40N. I guess I was just unlucky, since 4 out of 4 had the same problem. I'm guessing other drives will work just fine in this case, the 4x BU40N's I have were manufactured be...

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
I'm curious, does anyone remove their original faceplates & use the faceplates included with whatever case they're using?

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
Turns out the problem was both Silverstone TS14 cases. I'm very surprised, having used their stuff in the past, I expected it to just work. I purchased 2 more generic plastic cases off of Amazon, 1 works perfect, ejects, flashed the bios, ripped a few UHD's, I was amazed. Thou you have to push equal...

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
The 2 long screws that go in the back, don't seem to be long enough, so I removed the 2 tiny screws on the side, slide the back plate out, just connected the drive as is, no screws, plugged it into a USB charger, same thing, a light briefly blinked, signifying it had power, so I hit the eject button...

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
I bought 2x Silverstone TS14's, to go with the BU40N's, it's been a difficult case to work with, but I finally managed to get the drives installed, they both show up in windows, but the eject button on both drives, does nothing, but in windows, I can eject both no problem. I patched one of the drive...

Re: LG BU40N enclosure
I wonder why so many of these external cases have the cable permanently attached, been burned by cases like these in the past, the cable fails & the case becomes e-waste.

LG BU40N enclosure
I just purchased 2x LG BU40N drives, I need a good quality enclosure, preferably one that doesn't have the cable permanently attached.
I don't know if there's been problems flashing drives in slimline external enclosures, but if so, any that won't give me problems would be nice.
TIA!

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10
Eh, trash or not, I just use them to rip & archive, if they die prematurely, well, won't be surprised, 3 of 8 of them have died on me over the last 4 years, but at retail, I was paying around $70 for each, until they stopped making them. But the failure rate is why I am looking for spares.

Re: ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10
Great, well, it has the MT1959, so I was able to flash it, but that didn't seem to matter, since it won't read anything.
When you say junk, do you mean they just took spare parts, slapped it together, threw it in a Chinese retail box with all the usual stuff & sold it as UHD Friendly for $109?

Re: LG WH16NS60 SVC CODE: NS40
Probably, but if you look in the MakeMKV pic, it's listed with "MT1959".
Which is how I was able to flash it, did they somehow fake an MT1959 chip, when it's really an MT1939 chip?

ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.10
Also bought a new in box Chinese retail ver of ASUS BW-16D1HT, it came with an unpatched 3.10 firmware, from a Chinese seller on eBay, a different seller than the one who sold me 2 lemon LG WH16NS60 with SVC CODE: NS40 drives. So I used "DE_ASUS_BW-16D1HT_3.10_MK.bin" with SDFtool Flasher ...

LG WH16NS60 SVC CODE: NS40
NOTE: I moved this from LibreDrive drives, don't think that was the right area. Like the title says, I just received 2x LG WH16NS60 with SVC CODE: NS40, each has a new sticker on it from 2024-04-26, Manufactured: February 2024. I bought them on eBay from a seller in China, did I just get bamboozled?...

Re: New hardware not able to read 4k
I was having the exact same problem you were, I'll just post what I did to get it working. Mine is an LG BP50NB40 from Best Buy. Using Windows 10, plugged both cables directly into the motherboard (AM5) Using sdftool flasher 1.3.6 1) First flashed "HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BP50NB40-NB50-1.03-NM00800-2120...

Re: Mandolorian Season 2 Disc 1 rip errors
Just received my replacement from Amazon, played just fine, no garbled video @ 19:02, ripped it, no problems there either.
If you have a copy that's defective & you can get it replaced, don't settle, get it replaced, you might have a spot of luck as well.

Having the exact same problem, was about to start pulling my hair out. Purchased: Walmart.com, 2nd copy from Amazon, both have the same problem, at the same spot.
