I had to give up eventually, but then I discovered someone had made a flatpak for it! And it solved all my problems.

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
Yes, there is no libavcodec.so.57 there. Only the ones I've listed. Doesn't seem to be a libavcodec.so.57 anywhere on the file system.

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
Thanks for the tips. The problem is that makemkv expects libavcodec.so.57 - and I have libavcodec.so.58 This is all the files matching: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.a /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so -> libavcodec.so.58.18.100 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so.58 -> libavcodec.s...

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
ls -l /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libavcodec.so -> libavcodec.so.58.18.100
Different path, but same version as you.

Re: Makemkv as snap package?
Sorry TimothyTom, better ask in another forum on specific Snap issues.
There's a guy who has made a MakeMKV snap, but it seems to be needing some work yet to be usable unfortunately.
https://github.com/diddlesnaps/makemkv
Can someone help him?

Re: MakeMKV broken after upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04
I see. Thanks for answering.
So in other words the current MakeMKV is in need of an update ASAP.
Do you know where I can get hold of avcodec57?

Makemkv as snap package?
I think it would be a good idea to make a snap package for MakeMKV, because there always seems to be some mismatch with installed codec versions, issues with different distros ++. What do you think? It would make my life easier for sure.

Re: Is MakeMKV still being developed?
Thanks for this info, reassuring to know that it's not "actually" 7 years since the last announcement :D I guess it is still safe to buy a license then. He really should put a link to the purchase page on the web, because the expired MakeMKV application just closes itself if you don't have...

Is MakeMKV still being developed?
My MakeMKV copy has expired and I must now pay. As far as I can see there's no purchase option from the homepage, the last official announcements in the forum is from 2010, and the latest version 1.10.5 is over one year old now and still beta. Is MakeMKV still being supported?

Registration question
If I purchase MakeMKV, can I use the same key on multiple machines? I've got a Win PC and a Linux PC.
