Re: The Hobbit
There are two that are pretty much the same and then the one that has the Japanese. Here is what all 3 are showing. The first and 3rd appear to be the same other than the first one says 35 Chapters. The middle on is definitely different. Thanks for the help! Track 1.PNG Track 2.PNG Track 3.PNG

Re: The Hobbit
Thanks for the reply but I’m still not sure. I have two different physical disks, one disk is for the theatrical version and the other is the extended cut. So they are separate physical disks. I’m working with the extended disk. There are two of them with chapters. All of them have English subtitles...

The Hobbit
I just purchased the Hobbit trilogy and was trying to backup the first disk. There are 3 x 75GB tracks and I’m not sure which one to backup. Any thoughts? Daybreakers 4K
Can someone help me with this disk? There are a few files that look like the main feature and another file that's pretty big at 22GB.
Also, do I have to do anything special to get the Dolby Vision?

Re: Backing up a 4K disk correctly
Did you set your drive to unlimited read speed? I can rip a UHD with my Asus drive in about 30 minutes. Mine took about 1h 20m to do a 60GB rip. It runs right around 3.6x when it gets up to full speed. It looks like that involves the HKCU\Software\MakeMKV registry value to be added where mine says ...

Re: Backing up a 4K disk correctly
Thanks so much for the response! That clears up A LOT of questions and helps tremendously.
I sent my wife to Best Buy to grab a Shield.
I’ll take your advice and rip them as An MKV Is there anything a special I need to look for when choosing tracks to ensure I get DV and HDR?

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.3
I've read this entire thread, but didn't understand a lot of it. I've been trying to read up on Dolby Vision even though I don't have a compatible display. I want to start backing up my collection of 4k disks and don't want to have to do it a second time if and when I get a compatible display. From ...

Backing up a 4K disk correctly
I'm hoping someone can help clarify a few things for me before I start backing up all my 4K disks. I've been reading about HDR, Dolby Vision, the difference between ripping an MKV and a full disk backup and am still a little confused. I'm hoping someone can help me so I don't waste a bunch of time d...

Re: BD or UHD no longer work
I'm having the same issue, however, if I let the software run long enough, it eventually reads the disk.
Mine is an LG HL-DT-ST WH16NS40 (SATA) if that helps at all.

Re: UHD support
Thanks to everyone that contributed to this thread. I ordered one of the listed compatible drives this afternoon. I'll be sure to contribute if I find a disk that I can't backup.
Now it's off to find out what version of Kodi supports UHD.

Re: Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD
Thanks Woodstock. That makes sense. The box shows the Theatrical & Unrated version of the film. How do you determine which is which if you've never seen the movie and can't play it because of the DRM? I'm assuming the only option is to back both of them up and then play through them and try and ...

Re: Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD
Thanks for your help. One other question I have surrounds choosing the correct title. I previously used the ClownBD / AnyDVD HD combination and it was very straight forward to choose the correct title. It really only gave you one choice and out of 600 movies I've purchased and backed up, only one wa...

Any Reason to Keep AnyDVD
Without getting into anything off topic, I used to hold a lifetime license for AnyDVD. Obviously it's now useless, which left me needing to either purchase another license, or look elsewhere. I'm currently testing MakeMKV with a few titles and wonder if also having AnyDVD would be beneficial in any ...
