Seems to be working now. I rebooted the computer and power cycled the blu ray drive leaving everything unplugged for over 30 seconds. After rebooting everything, I was able to successfully rip a few discs again.

Further, when this error occurs, MakeMKV won't do anything else. If I hit the button to try again, the same set of errors comes up again, even though the disc never actually spins up. I have to close MakeMKV completely and restart it to try to get it to do anything again.

Loaded up MakeMKV today (and was forced to update again - really annoying), but got through all that and started to try to rip a disc as normal. it progressed part way through the rip and then failed with an error similar to...
