Re: TENET UHD RB - Failed to open disk
How recently have you tried it? I just got Tenet today from Target (in the USA). I ripped it using 15.4 with no errors, which is a surprise because I usually see A/V duplicate frame or overlapping issues. I was surprised this one showed zero issues. I checked the resulting .mkv file, and it looks g...

Re: Back to the Future won't read on my ASUS drive
thanks! I actually saw the answer in the FAQ just before I read your response. Shame on me for not looking harder before posting. I'll give it a try and see if Bttf 1 goes any better. UPDATE: Yeesh. 15.1 showed the "workaround" debugs, but ultimately failed at the end of the rip. 15.2 is s...

Re: Back to the Future won't read on my ASUS drive
Rolling back to 15.2 helped me actually read Btff 1. However, it still had some issues. For example, it ran into some errors and the DEBUGs showed that a "workaround" was deployed. At the very end, it said the file didn't match a checksum but the.mkv still finished. However, when I tried t...

Re: Back to the Future won't read on my ASUS drive
I have an ASUS drive that I'd previous flashed to the LG firmware, per the instructions on this site.
I had the same problem. I tried Bttf 1 multiple times and it wouldn't read.
I downgraded to 15.2, and I'm suddenly able to read the disc now. Not sure if this is just coincidence though.

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
For Shield owners running native Shield apps and the native Plex client this "fixed position dropout" issue was resolved a few months back. For example, Shield2019 users had this fixed in v8.1.1, while Shield2017 users had this fixed in v8.0.2 3rd Hotfix (note: this version is still in be...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
I just recently ripped Jaws 4K using 1.15.1. The Jaws 4K disc has HDR10+ and DV. However, how can I verify that MakeMKV did in fact add the DV data to the resulting .mkv file? Here is what I've done. 1)I extracted ONLY the video (no audio) into an mkv file and opened it with MediaInfo (20.03). The f...

Re: Ripping Dolby Atmos into MKV
Hi Fearless leader. It may help to understand what's happening here if you read my long post from a few pages back as I go into detail on the various contributing factors for the audio dropouts - https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17597&start=120#p88884 The dropout you're de...

I have the same problem with Frozen II during the "Into the Unknown" song. I don't know the exact time it happens, but it occurs when the background is all black and Elsa is doing the various designs with particle effects. I think it happens right around when Elsa makes particles that take...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Guide Updated 2020
Holy crap! I know this is anecdotal evidence and isn't proof of anything, but I post this in case it helps someone else. I bought Avengers Endgame UHD right when it came out. It never successfully ripped. I can play the disc on a standalone player. Yes, makemkv could open it and start ripping it, bu...

Re: What are your playback setups?
I use the Roku Media Player on a Roku Premiere Plus 4K over DLNA (TCP) to play the mkv files generated from my legally purchased UHD discs. My DLNA server is an old version Ubuntu running minidlna. The Roku app identifies the file as "Super HD" while correctly listing the 2160p resolution....

Re: ripping uhd 4k the martian
Considering that it seems to be hit-or-miss with BDXL drives on the market, the drive in xbox one s likely does have the firmware to read the disc, and since it is xbox, there likely is a windows driver for it. The trick is acquiring a certificate that can get the drive to read the keys. Might be ab...
