Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
You make some very good points. I too found forum entries describing problems with ripping or just playing these disks including the No Time To DIe James Bond movie. Some people had problems with only one of the 3 Planet Earth disks. Others were able to rip all of the disks though if I remember corr...

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
4 disks have the same problem while other UHD disks rip and play fine. Hence this is a problem with the MKV software and isn't a hardware or OS problem. This has been the same issue in the past with DVDs. So I would set them aside and recheck after MakeMKV updates. Eventually all my disks became rea...

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
I have 3 UHD drives. The disks can't be read with any of them. My other UHD disks read and rip fine. They can't be read with either MakeMKV or VLC.

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
The disks appear to be perfect. Not even a thumbprint of mine from their removal from the case. Based on my multi-decade experience with both watching and ripping DVDs, this is an encryption problem. Vendors had their own algorithms and it would take time before the hardware would catch up. Because ...

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
"There's a spot on the disc that the optical drive is having difficulty reading."
All 4 brand new (unopened until I removed the cellophane) disks have this same problem. There are lots of files on the disk, they all fail. It seems unlikely.

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
I ran Planet Earth III first and saved that log with a Planet Earth suffix. Then No Time to Die which is added to the first log. The 2nd log with the No Time to Die suffix contains both failures.
I really appreciate your help.

Re: Planet Earth III (Disc II) - 4K UHD, UK Edition
Fail: MakeMKV after copying the "keydb.cfg" file causes a hard fail when restarting MakeMKV. Rebooting MacOS fixes that problem but MakeMKV still fails on the No Time To Die UHD disk. No files saved message. Also fails to copy the Planet Earth III disks. So, no progress. This reminds me of...

Re: Issue ripping No Time to Die
It's 2025-March, brand new disk and it won't rip. It fails with the message "0 titles saved, 1 failed". It has failed 3 times, shutting down and rebooting the computer each time. MacBook Pro M2 Max, 96GB. These messages occur many many times: Error 'Posix error - Input/output error' occurr...

Billy Liar Region 2 disks won't rip
I've the "Complete Series" package of 4 disks. It can only rip one episode from each disk whereas there are 7 episodes on each disk. Sometimes it takes 4-6 hours to get to the point where it gives the option to rip just one episode.
Thanks,
Bill

Re: Inspector Lewis Season 8 - Blu-ray
331 played fine. My guess is that the segment info matches the file so that it can be extracted correctly.

Re: Inspector Lewis Season 8 - Blu-ray
Since neither 141 nor 331 are in sequence, how do you decide that one is superior to the other? Perhaps Handbrake ignores this? I still haven't had time to play the full file, got to finish up the garden for the year and get out and do some fall color photography.

Re: Inspector Lewis Season 8 - Blu-ray
I had no trouble converting 331 but will see what it is like after watching it all the way through. Maybe something will show up. I don't know anything about TINFO, what does that mean? For disk 2, it seems that 222 is part 1 and 223 is part 2. Have converted 222 already and working on 223. As an as...

Re: Inspector Lewis Season 8 - Blu-ray
All of the files of size 10,315,734 are identical. It doesn't matter which one you choose for "One for Sorrow" part one.

Re: Inspector Lewis Season 8 - Blu-ray
After playing many of the segments, I think the following is true. 1. work with only the 10 GB files, only 4 are needed 2. file 331 is the first half of episode "One for Sorrow 3. file 174 is the first half of episode "Magnum Opus" 4. file 398 is the second half of "One for Sorro...
