the disc is damaged in some way probably (which included dirty, even if you said you cleaned it)

Re: Pioneer drive with damaged DVD produces junk data, not error flags
you have to authenticate the disc to the drive first with libdvdcss, otherwise it will be scrambled. lsdvd /dev/<optical device> should do that if libdvdcss is installed.

Re: Off topic:UHD player w/1080 region free FW Players? Stationary.
FYI: there's no such thing as a region free player for blurays along the lines of what existed for DVDs, as region coding is done differently. The best one has is bluray player that you can manually cycle through all 3 possible regions if it fails to play due to a region mishmatch, but you still hav...

Re: Feature: Playlist deselect referenced m2ts files
I think he just wants to save space. if it's not referenced by a playlist, the bluray itself will arguably never play it (as it just plays playlists). Therefore its just "junk" the authoring software added, so why nto remove it? just a guess though. I'm not a blu ray expert but as I under...

Re: Java worked on MakeMKV until it didn't. (Mac OS)
Hey, so awhile back I installed Java. MakeMKV seemed to pick it up, and it was so nice. After all of these years using the software, being able to identify things like which one is the main feature was very handy. However, I don't seem to be able to find it now. Is there a work around? If it's some...

Re: Does no video with subtitles work in players?
by definition an audio only file doesn't have a video track and all these players will not instantiate a video output without one, and therefore attached subtitles to an audio only file wont be displayed. You would need to get a player that will output video even if there's no video by default to ge...

Re: Will VLC play a makemkv backup folder?
I've never had an issue with bdmv folders in vlc. I've had problems with java in blurays, but never with a bluray that doesn't use java. and this is well known as the java support in libbluray is very incomplete. good enough for many uses, but no where near perfect (and with development on it basica...

Re: Reproducable MKV Creation
a reason for reproducible would be in some decentralized ecosystems where a file is created and associated with it's hash. The file then disappears, but the hash reference remains. Either one can create a new file with a new hash (and all old hash references will never be able to be resolved again) ...

Reproducable MKV Creation
An interesting feature (to me at least), would be for MakeMKV to have what I want to refer to as "Reproducable MKVs". Basically running it multiple times should result in a bit for bit MKV file. Today that's not possible for one obvious reason (metadata includes date and versioning in the ...

do you have /dev/sr? devices? If you do, can you read them manually? ex: dd if=/dev/sr0 of=/dev/null
if you can't it would be something outside of makemkv

Re: My Blu-ray Remux Journey: 5,500 Titles, 210TB, and What I Learned
I'm curious how you managed the 210TB of storage. A big NAS? Up to 8 discs in a NAS or even as direct attached storage seems relatively easy. Going beyond 8 discs seems cost and order of magnitude more money. 12 bay dell servers are pretty cheap (r7?0xd). Heck, can evey buy 24 bay dell servers. (r7...
