Re: MAKEMKV fails to convert slideshows
makemkv doesn't really follow the playlist timing. this is known, for discs that depends on playlist timing (including in/out) you can't use makemkv, you need to use mkvtoolnix.

Re: Feature Request: discatt.dat and ISO file
the workaround for now is to extract the iso to a folder and stick it inside.
the issue is that one might store multiple iso's in a single folder and discatt.dat isn't meant to be associated with iso like that.

Re: Feature Comparison with DVDFab Passkey
no. makemkv only removes aacs and bd+ encryption (all that's needed to convert to mkv). It does nothing to ensure you have a region free / java protection removed disc. That's not its goal.

Re: Disc not Displaying Widescreen
yes, i've reported this bug in MakeMKV in the past. it uses the aspect ratio from the VOB not from the IFO. So it creates bad aspect ratio MKVs in the cases where the DVD was authored inconsistently (it should use IFO per DVD spec as I understand it). VLC has the same issue. mkvtoolnix is the way I ...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
Posting this on behalf of someone else: Anyone have experience with Zappiti (https://www.zappiti.com) or Zidoo (https://www.zidoo.tv) players regarding DV FEL support? Zappiti claims to have FEL support: https://www.zappiti.com/zappiti-reference-dolby-vision But sound support is lacking https://zap...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
this is a little off topic, but libplacebo from videolan now has dolby vision profile 5 and 8 tone mapping support (I believe). Bluray's live in the profile 7 world, but I find this interesting overall.

Re: Combining the benefits of makemkv and dvdisaster
I don't understand the Q. Are you asking that makemkv should enable you to make a par2 type file set for a physical bluray so if this physical disc ever has problems in future you can recover it with the par2 type data? I think its out of scope of MakeMKV, but you can effectively do that today if th...

Re: Star Trek TNG
makemkv doesn't respect the "in/out" times of the playlist. So for playlists that make use of that and don't play a whole m2ts, makemkv isn't the right tool for the job. many threads over the years about this. Look at mkvtoolnix and see if it gives the proper timing.

Re: Ripping Sony mastered for 4k
I've never heard of an HD bluray (as opposed to a UHD one) being in 10bit. they are all 8 bit AVC. for 10 bit, need UHD spec and 10 bit HEVC.

Re: How do I get a replacement for damaged discs?
Some disks that are beyond "just cleaning" can be resurfaced. This works much better with DVDs than BDs, though. And I'd recommend having it done by someone experienced at it, rather than jumping in to buying your own machine and learning how. Back when I had a Netflix DVD account, I'd ju...

excluding segments from seamless branching playlists
I have seen a number of situations recently that MakeMKV is excluding segments (somewhat unimportant ones, but annoying nonetheless) from it's processing of a bluray. example: I have a Kino Lorber bluray that has their logo in one m2ts file, then the movie in another. MakeMKV is creating MKVs withou...

Re: Disc rips perfectly, but has playback issues
The BDR-S12U shows no sign of being otherwise faulty, and equally, I haven't had any problems playing the same discs on other players. However, I've now discovered that virtually all of my "faulty" discs are 20th Century Fox branded titles 20th century fox. sounds like a bd+ issues and yo...

Re: Ripping Blurays with full Dolby Vision layers in mkv
just note, I don't believe there is any player in existence (as of now) that can actually do anything with the FEL. The best we get in playback is HDR10 with dynamic metadata.
