Re: How to uninstall MakeMKV 1.17.4 on Ubuntu
If one were to peruse the content of the Makefile located in the directories used to compile and install the app there is usually a list of commands on the form install: out/libdriveio.so.0 out/libmakemkv.so.1 $(OUT_GUI) out/libmmbd.so.0 out/mmccextr out/mmgplsrv $(INSTALL) -D -m 644 out/libdriveio....

Re: Help with a fatal error
One would need to know exactly what distro is installed on the Pi before a reasonable reply could be formed.
Please let us know the distro and version installed, as well as verifying the system has been fully updated.

Re: [SOLVED] Using libmmdb as libaacs+libdbplus - vlc and mpv segfault
One may also look at my thread about a similar issue with vlc and having installed makemkv system wide. https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=31489&sid=252553db4ecbe3214763b49591c9a9c1 The linked post by mike did not work, but after installing some other packages the solution w...

Re: VLC won't play BD
Thank you very much for the comment. I ensured all those packages you named were installed (several were not) but vlc still would not play a disk when started from the desktop icon. Doing a bit more searching I found a reference to starting it without the menu, using cvlc. When I tried it that way, ...

VLC won't play BD
Following the instructions in the post titled "Direct Blu-ray playback with VLC" https://forum.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7009 I linked the libmmbd.so.0 as shown. The links appear acceptable and are correctly formed to function. However, VLC does not access the disk which I ...

Re: new user
I believe the beta key gets updated each month with a new key. At least it was that way before I bought my license. I used it for more than a year before purchasing the key and never had to fiddle with the computer dates. The price was less than the headache of constantly updating the key to keep th...

Re: Errors
The warning is just that, and with the deprecated functions the developers need to fix the code. Users cannot fix that unless they are also programmers and dig deep into the code. If they do that then patches should be submitted to MakeMKV developers as suggested fixes for those warnings. It is the ...

Linux version won't compile on Fedora
I have had very good success with MakeMKV over the past few years using it on Fedora exclusively. Just recently I upgraded to Fedora 38 then attempted to upgrade MakeMKV to the latest version. To my surprise it fails to compile the makemkv-oss part even after I worked through a few issues with 'conf...

Re: Optical Drive not being found
That tells you the group owning /dev/sr0 is "optical". You need to make your user part of the optical group if not already, then you should be able to see a disk in the drive and use it. The user running makemkv must have access to the drive before makemkv can use it, so this step is first...

Re: Application Failed to Initialize - finally fixed for me
The duplicate libraries were what hosed me up as well. Upgrading from 1.14.5 to 1.15.3 and got the same error. Found duplicates of libmakemkv.so.1, libdriveio.so.0 and libmmbd.so.0 in both /dev/lib and /dev/lib64. Guess that confused the linker. Manually removed all, reinstalled 1.15.3 and all was w...

Re: 1.15.2 Application Failed to Initialize
Don't need to uninstall. I had the same issue with 1.15.3 on Fedora after using this for the past 4 years. 1.14.5 worked fine from an install a year ago, but I recently installed 1.15.3 and it failed with the same error. Research revealed that I had duplicate library files in /usr/lib and /usr/lib64...

Re: external dvd drive (linux)
I have a slim blue ray RW that I bought for use with my laptop some time ago. It is an LG BP50NB40 Currently about 5 years old, but is powered entirely by USB and has worked like a champ for me. I just tested it with MakeMKV 1.15.3 on Fedora linux and it worked like a charm copying a BD. It is defin...
