I have a related question:
I just switched from a Mac to a PC. How do I "transfer" my copy of MakeMKV to my new PC? Also, how to I recover my registration code?

Re: MKV doesn't work with Catalina?
Mike admin, Thank you, that is exactly the link I was looking for. Just for clarity for anyone else having the problem I had: Download the latest MakeMKV Open the .dmg file and then drag the program icon to your Applications folder Try double clicking MakeMKV either in Finder or from Launch Pad You'...

MKV doesn't work with Catalina?
OK, so never again will I update my OS... I updated my OS to Catalina and MakeMKV (v1.15.2) is no longer recognized as a safe program. I have been in System Preferences -> Security & Privacy -> Accessibility and added MakeMKV to the list. No dice. How do I get Catalina to allow me to use this pr...

Re: Splitting .mkv files
Frustrating, still didn't work. I put the file I wanted split into the FILE NAME box within the Input tab of MKVToolNix. Then I clicked on the output tab. I didn't add any information in the GENERAL box. In the SPLITTIG box I entered "Before Chapters" from the drop down menu, "all&quo...

Re: Splitting .mkv files
Then I moved to the Output tab. I asked for Part I to be "split based on timestamps". I put in time stamps, 0:00:00-0:01:14,0:01:14-0:12:39, et cetera. If you hoover over the timestamp input field, the syntax is shown. Do not specify "from-to" timestamps, specify only the timest...

Re: Splitting .mkv files
Got MKVToolNix, thanks for the help with that. My first couple of attempts produced garbage, can somebody help? I copied an .mkv file (Part I.mkv) into a "sandbox" folder so I could play with it. I opened the MKVToolNix-GUI and added Part I.mkv to the multiplexer Source window. Then I move...

Re: Splitting .mkv files
Where can I download MKVToolnix? I tried www.MKVToolNix.download and got some driver optimization subscription service. Don't need that.

Splitting .mkv files
I think this has been asked before, but I can't find it, so I'll ask: I have a few .mkv files, TV series, that have several chapters but each chapter is an episode. What is the right tool to use to split each file into separate files for each episode? MKVToolnix? Is there a utility within MakeMKV fo...

Re: First rip attempt with Mac OSX only partially successful
OK, it took forever, but I finally have the answer. My Mac Mini didn't recognize my pre-pro as a multi-channel device until I got a new HDMI input board from the manufacturer. Now I have multi-channel.

How do you combine files from multiple discs?
I have one antique dual-sided DVD and several movies that are on two discs. How can I combine the two files MakeMKV creates into a single file for play back?

Re: Can MakeMKV preserve chapters? How?
Thanks, Woodstock. I was fooled since the movies I've ripped so far show up on my hard drive as a single file. I expected one file per chapter. I'll have to figure out how my player (JRiver) handles chapters. Somewhat related: if I have a movie that takes up more than one disc (e.g. any of the Lord ...

Can MakeMKV preserve chapters? How?
I've just started using MakeMKV and don't want to get too far along before asking this: how do you preserve a DVD's chapters when ripping it using MakeMKV?
