maybe there is a (modified) Bufallo FW by now, which produces the desired result (= UHD blu-ray readability).
However my attempts roughly a year ago, were only fruitful with the modified LG FW.

You can manually add keys to MakeMKV to get these things to work http://makemkv.com/faq/item/12/category/8 I put a file called KEYSDB_HD.cfg in my MakeMKV data directory, updated with any missing keys, and I was decrypting and ripping. So how did it go? My Buffalo drive really needed the LG LibreDrive FW (1.03) in order to read the UHD blu-ray discs.

*Added the Sony UBP-X800M2 UHD-disc player & the LG 65SJ8509 LED-TV-set.
*Rearranged device type order

Looking forward to see reports on the Raspberry Pi 4, amazon Fire TV Stick 4K & many more.

There are a few early SACD releases without encryption, readable by old Toshiba DVD-ROM drives - maybe this could be useful for a possible LibreDrive implementation.


On a somewhat similar note - how about a DVD-Audio ripping ability (not necessarily decryption) for MakeMKV?

This firmware worked nicely on a Buffalo BRXL-PT6U2VB, enabling LibeDrive and UHD .
