Re: Default output file name template
... I've simply changed the end of the default template, so my template looks like this: {NAME1}{-:CMNT1}{-:DT}{title:+DFLT}{_Ep:M2} Then it shows the filename ends up being: G_Gundam_S1_BD2!ERRtemplate_t00.mkv When the expected value is: G_Gundam_S1_BD2_Ep01 , where "G_Gundam_S1_BD2" is ...

Re: Feature request: saving advanced settings
Thanks for the answers to both of you! Whe already had this discussion once regarding sound issues. What I like about the setup without an extra Media Player is the easy which which I open up a movie. I just need one remote and don't have any waiting time for booting etc. Also, I navigate by folders...

Feature request: saving advanced settings
tl;dr: I would like to suggest a feature for the advanced settings page where people can save their settings strings for different occations and reload it appropriately. longer version: I usually rip DVDs in english audio (I am german) and therefore don't need no subtitles. Sometimes I would like to...

Make an unfinished MKV playable
I tried to rip from a very scratched disk (chinese movie Fallen Angels) and I got a medium error just during the last 5 seconds of ripping. I tried it twice and the second time I copied the file that was in the making before makeMKV deleted it and aborted the rip. Now I have a 5GB mkv file that is n...

Re: Select several audio tracks of same language
I answer my own question. With I obviously deselect the multi (and the non-core of HD).
Code: Select all
-sel:(havemulti|havecore)

Select several audio tracks of same language
My setting is -sel:all,+sel:audio&(eng|favlang|nolang),-sel:(havemulti|havecore),-sel:mvcvideo,=100:all,-10:favlang,-sel:subtitle,+sel:(forced*(eng)) and I have the problem that from two german audio tracks (DTS and stereo DD) just one (DTS) is selected. Favlang is German at the moment. It looks...

Re: Ripping multiple discs at once?
Well, I am not sure that worked. I don't get the Windows message any more but the second drive is not working any more. It seems like it crashed while reading the disk. I was able to eject the disk manually and the GUI still showed the startup spinning process.

Re: Ripping multiple discs at once?
I did ripping with two drives often with my Linux system. Now I tried the same on a Windows laptop with a built in DVD and a second external one. Something strange happens when I try this: One instance of the program is working with a DVD and when I put the disk into the other drive then Windows tel...

White horizontal lines on top of rip
I ripped first season of The Wire DVD and they all look like this with the white lines on the very top of the picture (and just there) moving/changing over time. Do I have to crop every file or is there a setup in MakeMKV I could change? Sorry, I did not pick the best scene to fotograph.

Re: Black frames on top and sides of 16:9 video
Actually, if the black frame is always the same this would explain that the remaining part of the film takes up pretty much everything of the file size and the quality is alright then with the same file size as without black frames.

Re: Black frames on top and sides of 16:9 video
Thanks a lot for the explanation. The weird thing is that the files MakeMKV does save have the same size as the files from the other DVDs. If the TV is zooming in by default with this setup I would expect the quality of the files to be better, eg higher file size. Because the TV displays a smaller p...

Re: Black frames on top and sides of 16:9 video
There isn't anything MakeMKV can be told to do differently; it has rules for which aspect ratio to insert into the MKV file header. There are ways to change that header with other tools, such as mkvtoolnix (google can find it), or (what I use) handbrake, which will straighten out the aspect ratio w...
