Hi,
I am getting a very similar problem on Linux Mint 13. I have tried the compile flags that sauron-le-noir posted and they do not sort the problem for me.
I am up-to-date as far as updates are concerned and have got all the packages required installed.
$ cat /etc/*release
DISTRIB_ID=LinuxMint ...
