1.15.3 unintended fix - thank you
Of the multiple rips I have performed with 1.15.3 on my Pioneer BDR-208 drive, I would like to say thank you Mike for an unintended fix. I no longer have to randomly fight to get the Pioneer drive to read faster than 2X speed. Before, it was entirely random. If I saw it wasn't going to go faster, I ...

Re: CSI Bluray
Posted the same problem couple of years ago, both a Canada disc and a USA disc. There is a mastering error or something of the sort at play. I eventually copied disc to hard drive then decoded it that way.

Re: What is the correct play list [insert title here]?
If you aren't ripping a Lionsgate title, MakeMKV doesn't care about the Java runtime, so there won't be any messages. But, if you know it's a Lionsgate disk, it should complain about the JRE not being where it expects it to be. I'm on Windows 10 and I installed the JRE and am trying to rip You're N...

Re: Naming of files ripped from DVD does not include title
I've found the behavior to be erratic, sometimes it gives normal names, sometimes not, even though the volume name is clearly identified. It would be nice to see it force the proper name every time.

Re: Official Dolby Vision MKV spec support
1.15.2 has the official support. Hopefully this means Plex can start looking at what it'll take to add support. :) I can also contact Oppo on this. In the past, they have NOT implemented 'forced' subtitles because it was "not part of the official spec" - so DV being part of the spec, impl...

Re: Forced Subtitles
Only the author of the disc can tell which subtitles should be forced. MakeMKV cannot; so it won't add the forced tag if it isn't there. It is cleaner for the disc author, because not all players recognize and utilize the "forced" flag . Am thinking of the alien dialog in Star Wars right ...

Re: Dolby Vision and 1.15.1
Thanks! Been waiting for this one for a long time. I'll have to fire up the Oppo and see how it handles the MKV. I'm not counting on anything but it would be awesome if it somehow used the DV layer. EDIT : As expected, the MKV plays only as HDR10 on the Oppo. A shame but very much expected. It's st...

This is a Paramount film, didn't think they used anything special to hide it.

Re: AACS 2.1 support
MakeMKV handles HDR10 and HDR10+ perfectly, there is no decoder for dolby vision outside of a licensed bluray player, the Mp4 route i believe is single layer only. So if you want Dolby Vision get a Oppo UDP, jailbreak it and play you DV rips. I have the Oppo. Jail break it? More info please. Did no...

Re: Star Wars The Complete Saga Blue Ray Alien Subtitles Missing
There is a thread elsewhere in this forum telling you which track for which title.
I had followed those instructions for the same exact set you're showing and it worked correctly.

Re: CHiPs - Seasons 4, 5 aspect ratio
Use "MKVToolNIX GUI", open the mkv file, go in the right windows to "Video properties" and set the aspect ratio to 16:9 and remuxx the file. This should fix it. Thanks for the suggestion. As many times as I have used MKVToolNix, I have never actually seen a place to set the prop...

CHiPs - Seasons 4, 5 aspect ratio
Just updated to 1.15.1 (Windows 10) which might have nothing to do with this issue, but in ripping Seasons 4 & 5 of the TV show CHiPs the geometry looks all messed up. Does this series have a mastering error for these seasons? Actual resolution according to MKVTollNix is 720 by 480, display reso...
