Re: Wrong aspect ratios

Load the created file in "MKVToolNix GUI" in the multiplexer option window. Select the video track and go to the lower right corner to the "Video properties" and set the aspect ratio to 4:3 and muxx the mkv file again. Check the new generated file if this fix works. I've never b...

Re: Videodrome Blu Ray Audio Codec??

But you're really asking the wrong person to compare audio codecs - while I can discern a 1% or less speed change in playback, I'm just not that fussy about the "GREATEST MOST FABULOUS SOUND SYSTEM IN THE WORLD". If it takes an oscilloscope to prove to me that there is .002% error in the ...

Re: Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches

But MK 3.10 is a friendly firmware. This answers my question (hopefully) that I was about to ask. My ASUS BW-16D1HT drive is currently UHD friendly with the current 3.02 firmware. If I download and install MK3.10 (or later??) will the drive still function as a UHD friendly drive in other programs? ...

What AACS versions does MakeMKV report for these two standard (non-UHD) blu-rays?(Trying to stay away from AACS 70 until my drive gets a LibreDrive patch, thanks.)
Does 70 do something that previous versions do not? This software supports 70 even without libre.

Re: Zombieland 4K UHD AACS 2.1

As to "Why Sony?", one can only speculate, but would guess that they want to protect their content badly enough to bear the process/licensing costs. Take that up with Sony? :) Good luck with that. Sony is one of those companies that does not want to hear from the consumers, no matter what...

He-man (animated 2002) odd dimensions

I realize DVD is a small part of the program but I have run across another title that saves with incorrect dimensions. Perhaps the dimensions are stored in an IFO that MakeMKV does not read? He-Man & The Masters of the Universe (Mill Creek) Region 1 - The data is stored in 720 x 480 format, but ...

Was hoping to see support added for 2.1. Nice to see it is coming very soon. Yes I do own DVD Fab as well so I did download the update.

Playing in a UHD BD player, any errors are skipped over. Losing a sector or five to a scratch will usually be ignored.
The amount of data in a tiny scratch is probably pretty large though. Why wouldn't we see macroblocking or the picture freeze in such cases?

I would have figured Lionsgate to use 2.1, not Sony. Lionsgate in general are a-holes when it comes to this spy vs spy game. Just another title added to my titles I will not purchase.

Re: Avengers 4 endgame

Unless you have microscopic vision, how it "looks to you" is irrelevant. UHD's store up to 3x more data in the same space as a blu-ray. Meaning even at a microscopic level it can cause issues even if the disc "looks fine". Based on this math, a standard BD stores 25 GB per layer...

Re: Avengers 4 endgame

Another FYI for anyone new to this, you'll always be able to do a full disc backup, even if the keys aren't known yet (no actual decryption takes place). This is precisely what I do when I get a "volume key unknown" error. Back it up, put away the disc forever, and check back in a few day...

Re: Custom firmware pack with LibreDrive patches

Will installing an MK firmware to a uhd-friendly drive keep this drive uhd-friendly in other programs, programs that do not do libre drive? I have the ASUS BW-16D1HT with 3.02. Although makemkv supports libre with it already, I would like to fix the sleep bug by installing MK 3.10. The original post...

Re: NEW OPTION: 'UHD Friendly' Firmware Downgrade / Cross-Flash Using Official (Modified) ASUS Flasher for ASUS & LG Dri

is it only MK 3.10 that has the sleep bug fixed? I'm guessing this is what I'm experiencing with 3.01 that if I leave the disc in after a rip for an extended period the drive makes a god awful noise and pressing eject does nothing however ejecting via MakeMKV pops it out ok. Silly question. Where d...
