UPDATE: 1.18.0 has a bug - the program crashes when it is unable to open BD disc, and for most UHD discs. 1.18.1 is coming...

Right …  I’m getting similar issues, as well. The updated copy of MakeMKV will happily back up a 2k disk: or turn it into a series of MKV files. But, when a 4k disk is inserted, it starts to read a 4k disc: then shows a fatal error. I don’t know how to export the logs: otherwise I would include them...

Buying a refurbished Windows machine, and putting Make MKV on it would be simpler.

As would waiting a few days!

Wash the disc with warm water and liquid soap. Would that work? Should it be needed? The disc is *literally* fresh out of the package. Try it. New discs very often have a film on it that is invisible but makes them hard to read. I pretty much wash all UHD discs before I rip them. OK, Cheers, Cooper...
