Re: Night at the Museum 3 Secret of the Tomb bd+ code proce

Is this the right place to make a suggestion for a future update? Maybe I did not read the documentation carefully enough, but I had not realised I had to tick the Allow MakeMKV to check for updates box in order to download SVQs and FUTs. My suggestion is that it be made the default. Alternatively, ...

Re: Can ripping with MakeMKV cause region code to be set?

I can't test what happens with a region 1 DVD. I have just ripped the one I bought as region 1, Savage Messiah, and it didn't change the region code. However I have now checked with IFOedit, and the region code is 40 hex, which means regions 1-6 and 8. I have looked at a number of other DVDs which s...

Re: Can ripping with MakeMKV cause region code to be set?

Thanks for the links to those other threads. My apologies for not having found them myself. As for getting a new drive, if I want the convenience of an external drive, the choice seems to be a bit limited. I felt I did not have any need to write blu-ray disks, so I went for a reader. I started with ...

Can ripping with MakeMKV cause region code to be set?

Can ripping a DVD with MakeMKV cause the region code to be set on some drives? I have just bought a Samsung SE-506CB/RBSD USB external blu-ray writer which describes itself as a TSSTcorp BDDVDW SE-506CB USB Device. I have not installed any of the Samsung software. When it arrived Device Manager in V...

Re: Moderator approval

Thanks for the explanation. I had to think quite hard because I didn't think I had included any external links. Then I remembered I had included MakeMKV output in both posts and when it told me the region codes did not match it included a link to the site which (I think) explains how to set a drive'...

Re: Region code problem [1]

This is the MakeMKV output referred to in my last post. MakeMKV v1.9.2 win(x86-release) started Using direct disc access mode Title #1 has length of 1 seconds which is less than minimum title length of 120 seconds and was therefore skipped Title #2 was added (12 cell(s), 1:51:48) Region setting of d...

Re: Region code problem [1]

I have now done what I should have done sooner, and run MakeMKV on another drive. It has now successfully ripped the DVD. Woodstock was right; the COOLEAD drive was at fault, not MakeMKV. I'll post the MakeMKV output in another post, in case it needs moderator approval.

Moderator approval

Where can I find the forum rules to find out which posts will be allowed immediately, and which will be embargoed until they have been approved by a moderator? When I first joined the forum I replied to some posts, and that did not seem to cause a problem. It was only when I tried to start a new top...

Re: Region code problem [1]

What I have described in the last two posts is of course copying through the operating system, whether it is Windows or Linux. The messages from MakeMKV refer to a direct access mode, which presumably works at a lower level. Could it be that the CSS/CPPM protection referred to is defeating even Make...

Re: Region code problem [1]

I have just tried copying the files from the DVD in Ubuntu using the same internal drive. It copied more than Windows Explorer but all the .VOB files except VIDEO_TS.VOB had an IO error and were truncated. If I use Windows Explorer to copy a 1GByte .VOB file from another DVD claiming to be region 2 ...

Re: Region code problem [1]

Thanks for your reply. I am afraid I have made rather a mess of this post. I started in the DVD error reports forum. I was told it needed moderator approval. I thought perhaps I was in the wrong forum, so I came here and added more detail. I was again told I needed moderator approval. I then thought...

Region code problem [1]

When and if the moderators approve my post with the new topic Region code problem, please will they edit it to add the following.
When the disk is loaded MakeMKV reports
Protection: CSS/CPPM
Is that protection supported by MakeMKV?

Sorry, I am being obtuse. It is on the Download page. It says MakeMKV v1.9.2 has added support for AACS v52.

Re: This disc uses newer version of AACS protection.

Sorry if I am being obtuse, but where is the history page? I am being told
Highest AACS version: 46
What do I need to compare that with?
