hmm, looks like it does actually create the PCM track, despite the error message.
Stupid of me not to have noticed before.

Further info - the LPCM audio track shows up in VLC Player under Codec information in both DVDs and VLC Player appears to be able to switch between 2 audio tracks on one of the DVDs and 3 audio tracks on the other, which corresponds to the menu options and codec info.

Well when I play the DVDs using a DVD Player it offers LPCM stereo as one of the options on the audio menu, and I can select it as the audio track, and on one of the DVD the cover says Audio Content: LPCM Stereo, Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 Surround. MakeMKV 1.9.1 on Windows XP seems not to be able to read the LPCM stereo tracks on the 2 different DVDs I've tried to copy.
