Re: UHD drives
so I do not know what you're asking me sorry but I'm little put in this topic I do not know exactly what you're asking me I am a beginner He's asking to know what the sticker on the underside of the drive case itself says, whether it's SVS Code NS50 or not. It's located in the far right lower corner.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
Thanks for you help. That can't be it, If i connect the drive to another computer (running on FreeDos for DosFlash Purposes) the same problem occures: the drive still opens and closes and is recognized in the bios but it never spinns up the disc or attempts to read it. I even tryed flashing the ASU...

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
Yes the drive is recognized by the OS I have flashed it back to the ASUS firmware (version 3.x) so it shows up correctly as "ASUS BW-16D1HT" in BIOS and Device manager. The problem is that when I insert a disc it doesn't even spin it up, and when i try to open up the disc in the file expl...

Re: UHD support
It sounds like dirty discs. UHD discs can look perfectly clean and still be dirty enough to cause the drive to have read errors.

Re: UHD support
I have a couple WH16NS40 drives. Is the "SVC 50" significant? What does it stand for & how do I check mine? (firmware? drive version?) If it doesn't say NS50 for the service code, the drive won't read BDXL data, so it can't handle UHD disks. Where do I find the "service code"...

Re: UHD support
I believe that means it was built in 2014 or earlier. NS50 drives will have a build date of 2015 or later.
New stock has a very high probability of being an NS50.

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
Mine just came in with a manufacturing date of 12/16. I haven't tried it yet. I am guessing it is 3.00 firmware. I will post later when I install it. Edit: I plugged it in and Windows 10 saw the drive. No software needed. I put in Deadpool UHD and fail. Turns out the keys given were not in correct ...

Re: Asus BW-16D1HT Firmware
Got my BW-16D1HT today and as figured it came with 3.01 firmware. Working great ripping the Martian in 40 minutes. Mine arrived today as well and I'm impressed with the rip times, probably about 25% faster than the LG WH16NS40 I got a few weeks ago. It's been said that it's the same drive only re-b...

Utility name? Maybe a link?Woodstock wrote:It's not quite "riplock" - LG has "quiet mode" that slows the drive down to keep it from getting noisy. There is a utility that turns that off.
Thanks
