Doesn't matter. Brand new out of the box is usually when they need to be cleaned as they can sometimes have an invisible film over them from the manufacturing process.


Well by golly, I cleaned Despicable Me 4 and now it seems to be working! Thanks a lot for explaining about the invisible film ...

Clean the other discs. The drive is struggling to read them.

These are all brand new, just removed the packaging. The discs are in perfect shape. Not dirty at all.

I have a few fairly new 4K UHD discs (All are brand new, recently purchased). There is a pattern here: main title succeeds, but other titles fail.

Posting information on various UHD disc while ripping to make it easier for people to find the right stream that suites their specific needs. Some Disney titles will be easy with 800 for English etc. but can come with additional characteristics that make it harder to make a quick choice ...

I just had this problem with this movie as well (UHD). I made sure it was clean. I got a read error. Seems it’s just a bad disc. Glad to know what’s going on.

I had errors reading Planet Earth II Disc 2, UHD. I've heard there is a backup method, does that work to get the same result - (an .mkv file)?

Does selecting both the child and parent streams cause the title to take more space on the HDD than it took on the BD?

Many times ripping blu-rays, I see what appears to be "parent" and "child" audio streams. See:

Are the child audio streams are generated by MakeMKV using the parent stream as source material, or do the child streams actually exist ...
