Re: Drive flashing error
If anyone else finds themselves in a similar situation with this drive, I was able to recover by booting into Windows and running the official LG firmware update tool: https://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers?customerModelCode=BH16NS40&csSalesCode=BH16NS40.AVAR10B&category=CT3...

Re: Drive flashing error
I have a few old computers on hand with IDE support, so that's not a problem. I'm not clear on why that matters, though, as this is a SATA drive. Would I need to use a SATA to IDE adapter as well?

Re: Drive flashing error
OK. I did read the guide. I don't know why you think I'd lie about that. I didn't see anything indicating my drive was from 2014; if there was something explaining that then I either missed or misunderstood it. But I'm more interested in recovering. Can you provide any guidance on that? I can run a ...

Drive flashing error
Hi, all. I have an LG BH16NS40 w/ existing factory (as far as I'm aware) firmware 1.03_211403261115_K97E3JF2743. I'm running Linux, and using sdftool I was able to dump the existing firmware just fine: $ sdftool -f ./sdf.bin -d /dev/sr1 dump full Operation started: Reading flash memory 100% Operatio...

New drive purchase question and recommendations
Hello. I currently use the following drives with MakeMKV: ASUS BW-16D1HT - works great, including UHD LG BH16NS40 - mostly works... the drive has issues recognizing discs each time I reboot my computer. Rips fine once the disc is recognized, and usually recognizes subsequent discs after only one or ...

Re: Fatal Error - BD+
I also have the same problem, with John Wick 3. Running 1.14.7 on Linux with OpenJDK 1.8.0_222 installed. Tried running via sudo as digimars suggested, but still encountered the same error. Edit: Installing 11.0.5 seemed to do the trick. Weird that a newer version of Java is required for John Wick 3...

Re: Issue Ripping Commentary from Check Blu-Ray
Thanks for the suggestions. I'm definitely selecting all the available tracks, though. Just re-ripped again, double-checking expert mode is enabled, to confirm. The first instance of the track has the two DTS HD-MA + Core audio tracks like I described previously, along with chapters and a few subtit...

Issue Ripping Commentary from Check Blu-Ray
The season 4 blu-ray set for Chuck contains one commentary track, for episode 7 (Chuck vs. the First Fight). I'm unable to successfully rip this with MakeMKV. When doing a normal rip, I get two copies of this episode: 1. Contains the normal DTS-HD MA + Core audio tracks 2. Contains the same tracks a...

Re: Star Trek: The Next Generation S1 D6 T18
FYI, I had this problem, too, with the complete series set. Thanks to pittrek's tip, though, I found a way to workaround the issue: Create a full disc backup of the blu-ray, as pittrek suggested, checking the option to decrypt videos Navigate to BDMV/STREAM/ in the backed up copy Find 00080.m2ts - t...

Re: Ripping blu-rays with "in-movie experience"
Ahh, Java would certainly complicate things. So yeah, I'd say ripping the full IME video is likely a no-go based on that. Shouldn't we be able to still get at least the individual video/audio clips that are played in the overlay, though? I went through every single title ripped from those blu-rays, ...

Ripping blu-rays with "in-movie experience"
Hi. I've been slowly working my way through my blu-ray collection with MakeMKV, but I've just run into the first problem I haven't been able to figure out. I'm a a bit of a completionist when it comes to ripping my movies, so I usually rip all available titles on the disc, delete the ones that are o...

Re: The Hobbit Extended Edition
I ran into this problem on *one* episode on *one* disc of one of my Star Trek season sets. All twenty or so other episodes ripped fine, including special features, but I can't get that one episode ripped, despite the disc itself being brand new and looking immaculate. Never could figure it out, and ...

Re: Corrupt video data for special features
actually, this is totally my bad. Turns out MakeMKV was ripping the titles just fine - my computer was then playing some of those ripped tracks poorly, with all of the corruption I described. Never ran into that problem before so I didn't even consider it'd be the player, but I got clued into that w...

Corrupt video data for special features
I've been using MakeMKV for a little while now on Linux, and so far everything has either worked fine or has been easily solved with an upgrade. However, I've recently run into an odd issue that I can't figure out how to solve, or even why it's occurring. On two discs that I recently picked up, 2001...
