Re: 3D MVC Option
*160MB-300MB/s not 200MB. Only 300MB/s obviously on SSD or stroked RAID with a nice sequential read.

Re: 3D MVC Option
I can't either, it's not like it's an ideal RAID configuration but I do get very usable speed off them. Since my disks are all either stroked, in RAID or SSD and my ethernet setup is teamed the NAS is not nearly the speed I would like (they're not teamed like my HTPC is). Copying to/from SSD->SSD te...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Yep that's what I want to do, space happens to be cheap for me. My company did a job for Western Digital and they were so happy with what we made (a video for an internal event) that they gave us one opportunity to buy as much WD stuff as we wanted at cost, so of the stuff I got, I grabbed 3 WD Sent...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Just for the reasons I already said. On a passive TV where I'm forced to have 540 lines of vertical detail per eye, I want the best quality vertical reduction technique for the specific content I'm encoding. Multimedia content is excessively crisp and sharp versus movies which are smooth and soft. I...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Again, i dont understand the question. if you are making an MVC MKV, then there is no TAB or SBS... its MVC... which is full frames? You're familiar with Matroska right? It's not a codec, it's a container. A container that is fully capable of menus, chapters, multiple audio and video streams, etc. ...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Haha yes, agreed. Can I return to my original question about headers/EDID/etc? I originally really wanted to know if MakeMKV is capable of encoding a MVC MKV with "something" in the metadata/etc that would tell my TV what mode (TAB/SBS) the content was encoded with. This is because I'm cre...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Who would want to take beautiful 1920x2205 frame packed signals and turn them into quarter resolution HSBS? Nobody would do that. The panel itself shouldn't even let you in this case. Interleave or checkerboard or any other style has better merits than converting fhd3d into HSBS. And if you have a m...

Re: 3D MVC Option
Requiring a moderator to edit is, a pain.
*940 = 960, like I said in my final resolution.

Re: 3D MVC Option
if anything passive TVs are closer to HTAB, since they only have 540 lines per eye, which you prefer Take your own advice now that apparently you've given the concept more than a second worth of thought. If passive is forced to 540 vertical, then what sense does it make compressing horizontal and m...

Re: 3D MVC Option
docchris ~ I'm not making passive TVs active. I'm reiterating what AVS has discussed to use refresh speed to increase detail. Since you never read what I said (or anyone else on the subject) the 900 times I've said it, HTAB is BETTER THAN HSBS. It has more resolution. This is a fact. Get it through ...

Re: 3D MVC Option
if you are sending full frames to a passive display,, you still dont get to CHOOSE SBS or TAB, its always going to be half the vertical resolution Exactly, putting passive displays in the same arena as active. In the 240hz scenario we no longer need SBS/TAB/etc, we can just use full frames. That's ...

Re: 3D MVC Option
docchris ~ And the FYI was because that was a second response. I have a previous post that contains links to posts and wikipedia explaining to you why HTAB at 1920x540 resolution is so overwhelmingly preferred rather than HSBS at 960x540 resolution, so that'll pop up eventually to explain to you why...

Re: 3D MVC Option
fetef ~ I've said several times I am exclusively talking about passive displays (HTAB/HSBS/etc). I would never say an active 120hz display should ever do something like this. Maybe if I bold it, it'll be noticed haha. I am not saying an ACTIVE display should ever desire the functionality to choose a...

Re: 3D MVC Option
docchris~ It makes perfect sense. If you have the full data for both frames available, you have the ability to create TAB/SBS/Interleave/checkbox/etc using the full left and right frames. Why is this so hard to understand for you? If you'd like a simple old discussion running since the early 2010s u...
