Re: Forced Subtitle Only Selection Rule
I ended up changing my selection similarly to the following: -sel:(subtitle),+sel:(forced&favlang) Since I'm an English speaker either would work. I just wanted to point out that you can replace the specific language with "favlang" so it will select based on MakeMKV's language setting.

Re: Slow Audio Conversion
I thought this might be chalked up to my CPU, an i5 3470. But using QSV in Handbrake on the same system I can convert a 45min BD video to 160x120 with 640kb AC3 audio in about 2-3min. So I don't understand why this is taking so long.

Slow Audio Conversion
The information on the on-the-fly audio conversion indicates that it shouldn't affect ripping speed. However, on my system it significantly slows things down. I'm running the Linux version of MakeMKV. What could be causing this to happen?

Selection Rules Audio Codec
I’ve read the selection rule docs. Is there any way to have selection rules by audio codec?
I’d prefer for TrueHD tracks to rip the core AC3 but for DTS-MA tracks I would prefer to rip the just the lossless part.

Re: Forced Subtitle Only Selection Rule
I know of only 1 title out there that this will work - Avatar. I own no other titles where there are subtitles that are FLAGGED as "forced". The general rule is that forced subtitles will have their own track, and nothing will have the forced flag. As such, MakeMKV will not find any to sa...

Re: Forced Subtitle Only Selection Rule
I've added this to my default selection profile, would this do what I want?
Code: Select all
-sel:subtitle,+sel:forced

Forced Subtitle Only Selection Rule
I just became aware of the advanced selection rules. I already have a my preferred language selected but I would like it to select only forced subtitles. I don't need the full subtitles. On a side note I'd like it to only rip the AC3 core for TrueHD and only the lossless DTS-MA (not the DTS core) fo...

Re: Extra aspect ratio flag
what i don't get is that you don't get video encoded at anything other than 720x576 on 99% of pal dvds. if you falg this as 2.35:1 it will just be the wrong aspect as it will have been letterboxed already for 16:9 anamorphic. I don't understand it either. And I don't know why some players chose to ...

Re: Extra aspect ratio flag
And I know for a fact that it is encoded into the video. If I run MediaInfo on one of the VOB's of the Region 1 "The Glenn Miller Story" it shows that the display aspect ratio is 2.35:1. The video, depending on the playback equipment will either display 16:9 like it's supposed to or will c...

Re: Extra aspect ratio flag
Yea, I noticed that on a movie of mine. It had a flag of 2.35:1. Quite annoying. The flag is set in the video stream itself. I know this because when I play the original DVD it displays the same way. I have no idea how to remove that flag. I ended up converting the movie with Handbrake so it would d...

Re: Problems ripping interlaced DVD material
I'm not sure what your issue could be. I have no problem playing interlaced MPEG2 MKV's from Windows Media Player.

Re: Problems ripping interlaced DVD material
What are you using for playback? By default VLC won't automatically de-interlace the video. You need to specify the video to be de-interlaced.

Re: DVD to MKV - Playback Issues
It's quite a bit more involved. I use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to extract the video and audio tracks I want to a single file. And then extract the chapters. Then use VideoRedo's quickstream fix to convert the VOB into a standard MPEG program stream. Then I drag that into mkvmerge along with the cha...

Re: DVD to MKV - Playback Issues
I've noticed this on a few movies. If I use my old manual method of ripping the same DVD the video comes out fine. Not sure what the deal is.
