Decoding DTS-HD with MakeMkv?
I'd like to perform DTS-HD decoding with MakeMkv. Any suggestions on where to find a "dtsdecoderdll.dll" that is malware / spyware free? MakeMkv site pointed toward ArcSoft TMT but I couldn't find trial software due to ArcSoft discontinuing the TMT player. Running Win7 Pro x64. Once I find...

Re: Scsi Error - Need Help Understanding these failures
This may seem a bit far-fetched but I did track down a variety of SCSI errors I was experiencing after ruling out a bad blu-ray disk. Windows event log was showing controller error related to the BDROM drive which indicated to me a hardware issue. What I checked first: *SATA cable to bdrom *firmware...

Re: Convert / compress woes ... help!!
Yeah, that would have been one of my guesses also, but I don't think it's the machine ... AMD 3.9 4 core / 16GB / 2xRaptor 10k raid0 data drives. I'm going to test drive conversion / compression software today and see if that makes a difference. Any other suggestions? Maybe a Handbrake config proble...

Convert / compress woes ... help!!
I just started using MakeMkv to rip DVD, haven't tried Blu-Ray yet. The default settings appear to work ok for starters. Now that I have a ripped DVD movie in *.mkv I would like to compress it from 5GB down to ~1GB. Any suggestions? I have been using Handbrake to rip dvd and it does a good job, but ...

Re: Multi-core CPU support??
Thanks for all of the replies. I can see I've a lot to learn. It's cool to have a Guru squad available. Notice: "Guru" not the ill equipped "Geek" squad.

Re: audio question
I occasionally have the same problem. Notice "Occasionally." If this is a persistent issue with more than one playback software package the below work-around is not a very good solution: I've found that most of the time I can solve a sound timing or sub-title issue within the playback soft...

Multi-core CPU support??
Finally decided to take the leap from DVD to Blu-Ray. (Just ordered Blu-Ray on Amazon today) *Does MakeMkv support multi-core processors? *Does this feature really make a big difference? I've been using Handbrake for ripping DVD to hdd. It takes ~2.5hrs. for decent quality 1GB compressed MP4. I have...
