Re: LG BU40N PowerDvD playback

Run the UHD advisor I have tested the BU40N to work for official playback but powerdvd is extremely buggy and with all requirements met most times it does not work it likes certain versions of Intel me.
But you can do unofficial playback easy with makemkv + vlc easy

How do the Asus drives compare? Are they generally any better or worse than the LG ones?
They are rebranded LG drives so exactly the same

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

Thanks for the reply. Can you expand on your post a bit? What constitutes "a good one" and what are the implications of not getting a good one? Thanks! A good one to me means no read errors if you don't get one of those you won't be able to rip like half of UHD disc you will be playing th...

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

The last time I flashed a drive was back in 2004 to play multi-region DVDs... It's ok if you get a Good one you have about a 75% chance of getting a good...

Re: Unable to flash BU40N, please advise

Hey Just wondering what steps you took to flash your drive? I have the same model and i'm unsure of how to find the correct MK firmware to flash. Did you just flash the one firmware from the all you need pack? yes all you need to do is as the guide says use enc if you have 1.04 with the bu40n 1.03 ...

Re: Drive used to work, now just spits out discs (macOS)

I have a similar situation where my working LibreDrive flashed enclosure stopped working and just spits out discs. I have an external OWC Mercury Pro 16X Blu-ray, 16X DVD, 48X CD Read/Write Solution which comes shipped with a LG WH16NS40 . When I received it at the end of 2020, I dumped the firmwar...

It is these two:

LG WH16NS40
ASUS BW-16D1HT

Other discs read and rip correctly.
Those are the same drive

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

Just made an account because I just installed a WH16NS60, and even though it came with the CyberLink software, I still have to go through all this DRM-cracking (for movies I legally bought) because my processor is a Ryzen and CyberLink doesn't like Ryzen for some reason. I'm hoping there's some way...

However, if MakeMKV has the keys for these discs, I understand a libredrive isn't required.
Wrong where are you getting this info?

Re: Ultimate UHD Drives Flashing Guide Updated 2021

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry for the long response time. My bug is not the exact same sleep bug we know of and fear. Letting the 4k disc sit in my drive for 2-5 minutes is not triggering this bug. I cannot consistently duplicate the bug but my strong suspicion is this new sleep bug is triggere...

Re: The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection

Well it does not look to be a power issue.
If you haven't already clean them
After that you might just have to return them and wait a few months and hope all the bad discs go away
