Can the sleep bug damage a drive?
I have a BW-16D1HT with 3.00 firmware which seems to work okay for UHDs without firmware flashing. I didn't want to flash the drive unless it was necessary. I encountered the sleep bug once but didn't know what was happening, so I didn't immediately eject the disc. Can this harm the drive or disc if...

Re: Does libredrive mode allow makemkv to be more resilient when ripping?
Once a title key is known, that disc can always be decrypted going forward. However, one of the things that could prevent that is an updated mkb. If you put a disc in with a newer mkb it will update the drive and revoke known compromised host keys thus potentially blocking your efforts to decrypt u...

Re: Does libredrive mode allow makemkv to be more resilient when ripping?
I see, thank you. Does this libredrive mode mean that even if they update the encryption of the bluray discs in the future, makemkv will always be able to rip them? sure you can rip them but you cant play it back then if it cant be decrypted Then how are media players like mpv able to playback 4k r...

Does libredrive mode allow makemkv to be more resilient when ripping?
Makemkv seems to be particularly sensitive to discs that may not be in the best shape but that would still playback in a normal bluray player. Does libredrive help with the ripping process at all or is it only to bypass the encryption?

Re: UHD drives
But doesn't this thread specifically say not to update the firmware? If it doesn't increase compatibility then I don't think it's worth it. At this point I'll only use it for ripping UHD and my other one for regular blurays. If I upgrade the firmware I'll never be able to get back to 3.00 because m...

Re: UHD drives
I got the Asus BW-16D1HT drive along with the Vantec enclosure. It came with 3.00 firmware and seems to have ripped Interstellar UHD okay although I haven't watched the whole thing yet. I've noticed that the drive doesn't seem to fail gracefully like my other Asus external bluray SBC-06D2X-U drive d...

Re: UHD drives
what are the possibilities newer UHD blurays come out and block this exploit and can't be read by makemkv?

Re: UHD drives
So using a vantec NST-536S3-BK enclosure along with the Asus BW-16D1HT is known to work? The only problem might be that you can't downgrade the firmware if you hook it up externally? I could plug it internally if I have to but I have a mini itx case with no drive bays so I wouldn't want to keep it l...

Can't use MakeMKV libaacs/libbdplus to play blurays in Win
I'm trying to use either VLC or MPV to play back blurays in Windows, however I get an error from MakeMKV stating that a 3rd party application has accessed it and to start my trial period. Here are pics: http://imgur.com/a/Zomm5 I have tried having MakeMKV open while playing back the blurays but I ge...

Re: AACS errors on Fedora FC 19 X64
I just got a Blu-ray player (asus usb) and also use Fedora 20 and just built the latest Makemkv. According to the thread, the configure script should auto-detect this problem? However, it seems people are still experiencing it? I've only watched one Blu-ray so far (Sunshine) and was able to play it ...
