I ran into this problem too. The drive worked fine with Mavericks on a 2009 MacBook Pro, but not a newer 2013 MacBook Air. Might be because the newer machine is USB 3.0... Anyway, I was able to fix it by updating the firmware on the drive to version 1.30, which is available on Pioneer's Japanese sit...
