Looking at a BD I have here, the CERTIFICATE folder is part of the expected structure of a BD. You may encounter programs that won't work if it isn't present. And, being a BACKUP of the disk, it would make sense that MakeMKV would copy it to the backup. So, experiment - playing the files still work...

Bumpity bump bump. Another way of asking the same question: If I delete the CERTIFICATE and MAKEMKV folders, can I still use my Blu-ray back-up without issue? e.g. Can I still burn it using ImgBurn and play it using TMT/VLC/MPC-HC? Blu-ray backups: What's the CERTIFICATE and MAKEMKV folders?

I've backed up my first Blu-ray with v1.8.11 for Windows and now have three folders on my hard drive. BDMV obviously has the contents of the movie inside. I'm wondering what the files inside the CERTIFICATE and MAKEMKV folders are for.
