Re: "Fake playlist" protection - help needed
^^^ Don't bother with VLC approach. While VLC can handle BD-J menu, it cannot deal with playlist obfuscation. MakeMKV will load Java if it thinks the disc is using playlist obfuscation. You have to email mike if MakeMKV isn't using it. As for PowerDVD route try running ProcMon after playback has sta...

Re: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.
When you guys are talking about ripping the EL track out of mkv remuxes, I'm guessing you guys used something other than makemkv (e.g. mkvtoolnix?) to make the initial mkv? It's just that I've never seen the EL track being listed when opening a DV disk in makemkv, and all of the mkvs I've made with...

Re: Rise of Skywalker (blind) Stereo Audio Issues
Correct, Descriptive Audios or Audio Descriptions are audio tracks meant for blind people. MakeMKV shows all available audio tracks, including those that are hidden from the menu. So if you aren't seeing it from MakeMKV it isn't there to begin with. You don't need a dedicated stereo audio track sinc...

Re: Bridge on the River Kwai
The only way to tell if it is a bad disc is to try it on another drive. Not UHD but I have come across BD discs in the past where my LG drive won't rip it successfully but my Pioneer drive can. Doesn't mean the LG drive is dead (as it can rip other discs just fine), just that sometimes the drive is ...

Re: Does MakeMKV support Atmos Dolby Digital Plus Streams?
I got a Disk with DD+ Atmos Track. TrueHD Atmos works and you can see what MMKV recognize Atmos, but with DD+ there it says no Atmos. Any clues? It does not matter what MakeMKV says. What matters is if the receiver picks up Atmos. Have you actually test it on the receiver? Atmos is just metadata. I...

What disc is this? Is it a DVD or a Blu-ray? And please post picture of when you open up the disc.

Re: Ripping DTS-HD 7.1 results in 5.1 channels
What disc is this? Post a picture when you open up the disc using MakeMKV.
Just check the box for 7.1 track and use Default profile in MakeMKV. No need to check the 5.1 box.

Re: AACS 2.0 is cracked?
Add corresponding .mpls (playlist) instead of .ts when you use the GUI. You'll get the chapter information that way (also takes care of seamless branching).ccutrer wrote:As an aside, how can I get chapters out of a raw blu-ray (or UHD) disc image with just mkvtoolnix?

Re: AACS 2.0 is cracked?
So, if they've been decrypted and are no longer on optical media, why would you need MakeMKV to read them? Because I want to make an MKV file, instead of having raw transport streams? And have that file include chapters, that are not part of the TS, but stored elsewhere in the disc structure. I don...

Re: Why 23.976 FPS?
Hmm... it should be exact. Probably because of the 3:2 pulldown to convert to analog tv stuff in NTSC.. But I'm from europe and I really don't know why they don't stick with 24.0 FPS like it should be.. at least here in europe, we don't have NTSC. When people talk about 24.0 fps, they are referring...

Re: Current situation of Dolby Atmos / DTS:X soundtrack
Atmos is just additional metadata that is along with either TrueHD or DD+. Same thing with DTS:X (although I'm not sure how DTS Headphone X works). You do need a receiver that supports Atmos, otherwise all the receiver sees is just TrueHD or DD+. As long as the player can bitstream TrueHD you should...

Re: AACS 2.0 is cracked?
Even tried using MKVToolNix GUI and converted it to a MKV and it still just was not beefy enough. Of course not. MKV and M2TS are container formats. You are merely repacking files to another format. You have done nothing to the actual video stream. What you are doing is like taking out stuffs from ...

Re: Successful video rip: but variation in volume level
Did you rip using Default profile on MakeMKV? Or did you use other profiles like FLAC or AAC? Any AV sync warning during ripping? Sometimes Dolby and DTS tracks have metadatas like dynamic range compression which are lost if you opt to convert the audio, even to lossless one like FLAC. When in doubt...

Re: Disc Main Movie selection
That's not playlist obfuscation. Just standard Blu-ray with several titles (bonus features on the disc). In that X-Men disc the first entry is indeed the main feature film. Playlist obfuscation is when you are dealing with multiple entries with about the same playtime and same size, with each entrie...

Re: Best External Blu Ray Drive
It is not a rip lock. It is simply quiet mode.outwar6010 wrote:Apparently my pioneer has rip lock and so do many other blu ray drives. Can anyone recommend a drive without riplock?
Go to Pioneer website and download appropriate drive utility to disable the quiet mode.
