Re: Castle Season One DVDs
The problem with this disk has been resolved with beta version 1.8.11. The discs in Season 1 now open and process fine, using the WDTV profile.
Thank you very much.

Castle Season One DVDs
I've posted the log to another thread, but I haven't seen any response, so I'll start another one... The first season of Castle DVDs (purchased from Amazon) refuse to open with the current version of MakeMKV. Here is the log from disc 1 of the set: Debug log started at Mon May 19 17:50:26 2014 , wri...

Thanks. I'll give it a try, but I suspect it will work for BD discs and the subtitles.Chetwood wrote:Use expert mode and the WDTV profile under advanced options.

Re: 1.8.10 Remuxing MKVs with Subtitles FAILS Every Time
I'm not sure what you are doing in your process, but I'm remuxing Planes with no problems. I'm not saving the new file to the same directory, which may be behind your failure. About the only message that I'm seeing is "Program reads data faster than it can write to disk, consider upgrading your...

Re: Handling DVD "Letterbox" widescreen?
After "playing" with the Independence Day DVD to get it to display correctly, I believe that I can manipulate the settings in the MKV file (through the toolbox) to display properly through the WDTV Live device, which I use. I will be testing The Abyss, which is available on DVD only in Let...

Re: Recommendations to convert MKV for a smaller file size?
Another thing to keep in mind when using Handbrake, it is, as I stated earlier, a lossy system, even when using a dual-pass encoding method to produce MP4 files. MKV files are fine, but I have never figured out Handbrake's system for putting it all together. MakeMKV has a much easier-to-understand i...

Re: ID4 (independence Day) DVD conversion oddity
I'm using Windoze Media Player with added codecs (it could be a codec problem, maybe) to test the file. Then I use a WDTV Live box and an external hard drive. I should have realized that Windows can't do much of anything correctly. LOL The DVD itself reads fine and translated fine on a Toshiba with ...

Re: Handling DVD "Letterbox" widescreen?
The problem shows up on all devices, including my PC (Windows Media Player), as well as the WD TV Live device. I don't want to have to change aspect ratios when moving between movies and/or TV shows. I can put up with the 4:3 playback for older television shows and movies with the side black bands, ...

Re: Recommendations to convert MKV for a smaller file size?
I should have said, it maintains the original screen information of the file you are processing. It also comes with a price -- file size. The more information you retain, the larger the resulting file. Thus, if you want the highest resolution (of the original material), the resulting file will be cl...

Re: DVD error SCSI all movies
That is an error that is hardware dependent. My XP system with IDE optical drives generates this error for both drives. It doesn't impact performance of MakeMKV and can be ignored in my experience.

Re: First Season of Castle DVDs
I just found a discussion of the problem with the discs in the DVD error reports section.
See http://www.makemkv.com/forum2/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7792
P.S. The disc(s) fail to open. I've posted the debug log in hopes that the issue can be addressed in a future release.
